Had my first really bad accident with the big guy. Was on pavement showing off the top speed on 6S. Things got a little squirrelly at around 40 mph and the rear left wheel *just* clipped a fence post. The results?

Not the best on pavement. They are wider than stock, so they help to prevent traction rolling, and they are great on sand, dirt, and rocks.

is it just the truss? or did the lower link pull through the link mount on the housing?

I with the AR60 1/8 had the replaceable link mounts like the 1.10 AR60 has.

Looks like the straight adapter link mount got pulled off as well as the link mount on the housing, which upgrade will you be getting the Vanquish, rc4wd or plastic for now until the HR comes out with their YEX12RX01 ???

The end of the lower link cracked - pulled right through the screw. The pinion gear got pulled straight out through the axle housing too, and the housing has a nasty crack. And the axle housing truss cracked in half. Pretty epic. Half the gear shaft when flying though the air, but I found it. Lucky I had just upgraded to the dhawk steel driveshaft. It's still totally functional.

Good question! I wish the VP worked with the HD gears. I've got my eye on the rc4wd axle, but I haven't picked one up yet. Sticking with plastic for the time being.

The VP and the RC4WD as well were using the Axial housing specs, which was made to accommodate the straight/spiral gears. So if it fits the original and the specs of the upgrades were copied from the original, and from what the 3rd party manufacturers are advertising to promote their products, that theirs are heavy duty alternatives, then it should work.

My take on the YXL differential problems boils down to 2 and this is purely based on my experience, the parts are too small for size of the rig. Even when I found a way to minimize the sand, dirt and water from getting into the bearings, with my driving style, I'll be lucky if those gear teeth last for 10 hours and that's 4S bashing, it needs bigger teeth like Mod 1. It needs tougher plastic formula specially the axle housing, i'd also settle for a thicker one it may have 221°F melting point but it starts to warp at 165°F. Minimizing the sand, dirt and water from getting into the bearings is easier to solve compared to the bearings heating up warping the plastic holding it. No wonder really the rear pinion bearing wall is 1.5 - 2 mm thick and that's front and back.

But take it with a grain of salt, I am not an engineer or an expert on YXL's and I have not yet tried the spiral gears so I can't say for sure, all I'm saying is that in theory it should be plug and play. The extent of my experience is what I encounter when I eventually destroy parts while I'm bashing and lets face it with the amount we all have spent on replacing the parts on this rig we coulda had built 2-4 rigs. LOL.

Got her all back together again! Put in the Dhawk metal links and cleaned up my wiring while I was at it.
