Default Wheel options

What are some good light weight beadlocks? Or what weight beadlocks should I stay away from? I'm new to the scale rigs mostly had short course trucks.

The Crawler Innovations Six Shooter glue on wheels are very popular for the yeti.
They are super light, and are adjustable with different size slw hubs.

Harley has a video talking about the trail ready beadlocks. Not sure if that's what your referring to.

Vanquish owns a Patent (or more) on the SLW style hub. So technically they are the only ones that would work, but they have licensed that to Axial and I believe gave permissions to some others.

Lockeduprc.com makes some SLW compatible wheels
Find a used set of SLW one here, hard to beat the original SLW's for weight and holding a bead. Yes its 2 ring (bead lock on both sides) but I've never had a single tire pop a bead ever with them, not in comp trucks or fast scalers.

Standard beadlock rims will need more offset to clear the a-arms.

As for the tire bead holding, I found the problem with the stock wheels is that the inner ring flexes. I picked up some 2" PVC couplers, and machined then on my lathe to fit over the stock rings.

Here is the stock inner ring, and the machined pvc clamp.

And here it is installed.

And on the VP patents, the only patent of their that I can find covers their wheel weight system. And they no longer claim the hubs to be covered from what I could find? But plenty of venders make wheels that use their hubs.

Should I be worried about running lockeduprc wheels they're 3 oz wheels? Am I just better off spending the extra money on a set of Vp wheels they seem pretty light weight.

Been beating on the LURC Ikari's with CI DW foams & U4's on mine... with out issue!

If your worried about weight...go with the crawler innovations for the $. I am just not a fan of glue on wheels.

Have you tried using your short course wheels and tires on it ? I'd love to see what it would look like .

I went from stock tires and foams on SLWs to CI 6 bolts U4 tires and DW foams.

The SLWs are super light for an aluminum wheel, but you can feel the difference in weight of even the SLW to the 6 bolts when it is launching and getting to speed. Worth it to me. I love the Method and KMC look, not their weight.

Plus gluing is easy if you do it right, buy AKA glue or Losi glue, it's a way better gluing experience when you use the right glues.

Either way is better than the stock wheels, so you have options.

Stockers were decent, never popped a bead.
Now with CI 6 Bolt + Proline Super Swamper XLs, much improved![IMG][/IMG]
