Default Yeti knuckles, weights and shafts

Yeti knuckles, weights and shafts

I am happy to announce the release of the Dlux line of knuckles and shafts for the Axial Yeti!

For those who are into comp crawling, you have probably already seen the knuckles that I make for all the popular axles (Dlux custom knuckles V2!) including the Wraith, XR10, Berg, Bully 2 and the list goes on. Now, Yeti owners are going to get a piece of the action.

Benefits of these knuckles:
The knuckles have the ability to convert from AX10 chubs to Wraith chubs by using optional shims.
This is a knuckle and a knuckle weight all in one.
Ultra-light all the way to decently heavy by using Delrin, 7075 or Brass
Optional slug holes to adjust your weight even more
Oversize, low /no maintenance bearings are standard. If you have had bearing issues in the past, kiss them good bye!
Due to the design, these have an extreme amount of strength at the arm. No more bent or broken arms.
You would be able to take these knuckles and install them on other applications. For example, the stock Yeti shafts are the same as Wraith or XR10 so you would be able to install the knuckles on many cars (Wraith, AX10, Berg, XR10 etc,.) Same goes for the OFNA version, there are many applications that they will work on including the Yeti.

Since there are 2 different versions that I am offering the Yeti owners, it gets a bit confusing. I will attempt to put each version in their own post to try an alleviate that.

Both versions will need a large inner diameter wheel to clear the knuckle. VP OMF, CI 6 bolt, stock and most RC4wd wheels tested have cleared with room.

The first version is a direct replacement for the steering knuckle.

You can use the stock dog bone shafts or universals.

Knuckles will come in all 3 materials, from brass to delrin to 7075. I would however suggest sticking to just the brass and 7075 for pure strength unless you have something that needs to be super lite with the Delrin.

One great feature is that these knuckles will come with larger than standard bearings. 10x16 on the inside and 5x13 on the outers. This will make a major difference in bearing life! Your days of blowing bearings should be over!

Knuckles will come with steering arms, no slop king pin bushings, all bearings and hardware.

These are available for purchase now. You would want to buy Dlux knuckles, stub shaft type is “Wraith/XR/Yeti”, single sided arms and Yeti chubs.

Now, if you have watched my products for any amount of time, you will know that I am a big fan of the OFNA style axle shafts so, of course I had to make a version fit the Yeti.

This is the most confusing but really isn’t that bad. The most important thing to know is that you must have a locker or some way to attach the bigger drive cup. All parts on this setup are significantly bigger than stock.

Knuckles will come in all 3 materials, from brass to delrin to 7075. I would however suggest sticking to just the brass and 7075 for pure strength unless you have something that needs to be super lite with the Delrin.
  • Shafts are much bigger than stock. Over 1mm bigger shaft and the pins are 2.5mm vs stock 2mm.
  • Stock stub shafts and hex pins cannot compete. 8mm stub shaft vs. 3.5mm stock and 2.5mm hex pin vs 2mm stock. Try and bend a stub shaft on these…. Won’t happen!
  • The bearing blowing days on these are over for sure. 16mm outer diameter bearings!
  • The hub is a bit confusing to the new guy. It eliminates the hex and hub setup and just goes to a straight up hub only. There are no wheel nuts to come loose. The hex pin is held in either by the wheel screws or a center screw that goes through the stub. The wheels on the Yeti are no stranger to speed and that means that the typical wheel nut is always loose. Never again will you have to tighten a nut with this setup. Once you hold these in your hands, its not confusing and you will instantly see the benefits.

Knuckles will come with steering arms, no slop king pin bushings, all bearings and hardware.

These are available for purchase now. I have this setup in their own category where you can buy individual pieces or the whole kit for a discount. You can find these in the “Wraith/XR/Yeti” or “knuckle” category.

Quick question, I assume you kept the stock steering geometry correct? If so do you think there would be a way to offer a different top plate to run wheels that dont have a large enough inner diameter like the wheels you stated?

Yes, stock geometry.

There is always a way to figure anything out. The real problem would be if there would be enough demand to drive a project like so.

5mm as a standard, yes. I can also do 6mm on special request

I got my Dlux knuckles installed today. They went together very smooth!
With CI 6 bolt wheels and Voodoo U4 tires it measures 12.25" wide(out side of tires)

Sorry, I dont have a set of each to measure. Maybe somebody else who does can chime in or even if somebody just has a set of one or the other can measure?

Awesome setup,
The rear inside of the OMF and Method wheels have the same profile. I don't think the parts are interchangeable but they appear to be the same profile and give you more clearance then say a standard VP SLW wheel.

These are now available with the Dlux open diff outputs as an option for the OFNA version so, you can now run the OFNA setup with a locker (Blue Monkey) or open diff (Dlux).

Still ZERO broken OFNA setups out there! If you want the end of all front end parts, this is what youre looking for.

I plan to use some 1inch wide SLW rims with your open dif set up.
Will these rims work ?

I can tell you that a Carter Fab 1" can and VP Method wheels won't work. However, a stock Method wheel and can are good to go.

So, Im running the BM locker and MIP's in front now. Will your larger bearing knuckles work with this configuration?
