Default New Kit Yeti what motor/ ESC????

Im Picking up my Kit yeti today after work and wondering what inexpensive motor and esc combo i should get. I want it fast but dont need a rocket ship. I was looking at the novak Crusher 4pole setup. Looks pretty good and i have had good luck with novak in the past. Any other idea for setups around that price range or lower????

My kit arrives on Friday and I will be installing the Viper Copperhead ESC/4500kv sensorless combo. Keep in mind, this is my first non Tekin setup. I currently have 5 race vehicles all with Tekin combos but could not justify a full race setup for a bashed/rock racer. Trust me, if the Viper sucks I'll kick it to the curb and buy the proven Tekin stuff that I normally run. I'll give a full report as soon as I get a chance to run it.

Stormer Hobbies has the Viper esc/motor combo on sale right now for $109.95

I'm going to do the MmP and P4HD, under 300 for both. The elements that the RX8 has that I won't get I don't need or won't use! Plus castle is always solid

The traxxas et-3s esc is a rebadged MMP and is around 70$ on Ebay and the Holmes Hobbies BL-540 pro brushless motor

What KV rating would be good for just 2S Lipo? I have a bunch of 2S 5000s and I'm not going up to 3S with this rig.

Something around 5000Kv would be pretty fast with 2S. Just make sure you have some other pinions on hand to try and get the gearing right.

I have a 5700Kv Sidewinder 3 setup I'm going to try in my Yeti at some point, and it can handle 3S too.

I have a kit coming on Monday.
It is getting a MMP (rebadged et-3s flashed with official MMP firmware) and Pro4HD 3000kv to ruin on both 2 and 3 cell.

my RTR is super slow on anything 2s, I have been reading different guys thread and 3s seems to be the way to go. the battery tray was deffinatly designed to run 3s or a high mah 2s. I ran an 8000mah 20c 2 cell and then a 5000mah 80c 2c right after and the speed just wasn't what I wanted. going to throw in a 3c see what that does. most likely stock motor and esc will end up in tool box, looking to go sensored

I've ordered the Yeti Kit, and was just going to run my old Touring Car electronics in it, until I realised the yeti comes with 32P gears that have a 5mm hole/shaft for the the pinion. 1/10 scale stuff only has a 3mm shaft.

So, for a bit of schooling for me, I see a lot of people running 3000kv motors. Is that because they're running 3S. If I keep to 2S like Rabidfox said, is the 4500kv range better? I like the look of that Viper set up. Well I like the price of it!

I am just going to run a take-off motor/esc from a RTR version. They are plentiful on ebay. It should be plenty of fun for me on 3S and a good time on 2S as well.

mine was faulty and replaced under warranty but other than that mine doesn't heat up, is waterproof and works great. Good value for under $120 and to get the car running.

3000kv on 3cell has the same power as a 4500kv on 2 cell respectfully . The reason to go the 3000kv route is because it runs a lot cooler and more efficient.
The one drawback I see with 3 cell is the extra weight if your car has a tendency to push or is rear heavy causing it to nose up.

Any thoughts on what gearing you'd be looking at with a 4500-5000 on 2S? I'm going to get the Viper combo from Amain, but not sure if the stock gearing would be right. Absolutely no idea actually...

According to the viper gearing chart the stock spur and 16 tooth pinion should be right on the money. Great down on the pinion if things get hot or gear up the pinion if things are cool but u want more top end speed.

BTW...a gearing chart comes with the combo

Thanks mate. Should have done a bit more googling. I see the chart on their website. I'll start with the stock gearing and take it easy for the first pack or two....

In doing some looking around I think the Tekin Pro4 SC 4x4 4600kv might be a good mate to the MMP using 2S.

I am ordering my Yeti Kit and am considering the MMP w/2650kv or the SV3 w/3700kv. Thoughts?
