Default The BMOC U4 Yeti

sup dudes. i will update my yeti build and U4 race experiences here.
arizona local, my home track is Fear farm R/C raceway U4 track. we have a pretty good sized group of guys here with yeti's, wraiths and 1.9 racers. join ARIZONA U4 RC CLUB on facebook

it all started when i went to fear farm to drive on the 1/5th scale track and saw a bunch of weirdos laying rocks on the 1/10th scale track. after chatting for a while and seeing their yetis do work crawling over the rocks and clearing doubles i knew i had to have one..

next week bought a brand new RTR

added new freqeskinz wrap and some two face 2.2 tires

bunch of goodies from STRC

red method wheels from vanquish. matched well with the freqeskinz wrap.

had to test the voodoo u4 tires. best tires for u4 hands down.

ran the STRC upper and lower links for a little while and got tired of waiting on weak axial rod ends to ship and inevitably break them again next bash session.
so i replaced them with blue monkey RC upper and lower links, far better product with beefier traxxas rod ends which are way more attainable than axial rod ends. only had one issue with a bent upper link but they have been pretty bullet proof for me so far!

went up to payson, AZ for a U4 Race, Ides of march, first official Ultra 4 race event held in AZ. glad to be part of it. stole most of these pics from facebook
the layout

2.2 solid axle landrush start

2.2 open class, heat 2 start.

winners of 2.2 open

i broke my rear axle in the last chance qualifier so I DNF'd but it was a great time even though i didn't podium

but.. i did win a pair of voodoo tires in the raffle! saweet! that's a win in my book!

replaced my stock axle housing with this VP replacement. very clean product! fixed the weakest part by tapping the lockouts with 4mm screws. way stronger now and no more loose lockouts! hurray

also threw in an MMP and tekin pro 4 hd 3000kv paired with a maxamps 150c 6500 mah battery. this batter kicks some serious ass. totally worth it.

fear farm track i helped build a couple weeks ago.

testing was successful but i did break some more shit!

first unofficial race held last weekend during a club race.
pretty good turn out for yeti's!

DNF'd again broken upper link rod end on the third lap! oh well! haha
race results!

track is definitely unforgiving. drive too hard and risk breaking your shit. drive to easy and get left behind. all about maintaining your car and making it bulletproof as you can.

first official fear farm U4 race going to be held next saturday the 18th of april! hope i can keep her together then! lol
join arizona U4 rc club on facebook for more info keep updated with events!

more to come.

we had some good racing today, had about 30 people showed up to participate. an awesome time!
here's a vid of the 2.2 open class first round of qualifying. i did a pretty good job. ended up having a nut back out during the main so i lost my lead with 2 minutes to go. ended up taking 5th place.
also took home ANOTHER set of voodoo tires winning in the raffle. makes it worth it every time haha!
