Default Hinge pins

I haven't even gotten my yeti kit ready to run as I'm still upgrading it and came across the hinge pins being weak as I'm not gonna bash it it's more of a trail rig but I know I'll hit something hard and I can see it binding so I was wondering what are the options for the pins

I did this, using Lunsford T\E-Maxx pins

DLUX Swamp Squatch

And as you can see, it has seen some use since, with no issues.

No problem, don't forget the 1/8" collars. They are needed to hold the pin in place.

Dubro makes the collars. They are 1/8". I picked mine up in the plane section of my LHS.

Hey dicky, i see you have your kingpin screw with the head on the out side of the knuckle. Did you use a thin nut or something?

I was the first using better pins, mine are Tungsten Carbide - won't ever bend, but sure if I hit something they could break. Then add in the collars and all set.

Really any good pin material will work; various tool steels, titanium, tungsten carbide, drill blanks. McMaster.com has all the options of materials you could want. And of course the 1/8" collars too.

I haven't had a single bent hinge pin since switching to the rpm a-arms.

Neither did I, but for the relatively low money to change and the poor fit and design of the stock ones, having a racing background, no way I could live with the stock pieces. It is just a matter of time I make a wild jump and end up needing it anyway.

I went through this extensively with an exo buggy. I think a lot of it comes down to factors outside the box some. First, the capture plates/bumper assembly. If they are plastic, they will give some and influence the a-arms which could result in a bend. You also have the way the capture plates mount to diff. You are then relying on the diff housing not to flex. Then mix in the gap in the stock, and even RPM a-arms, and now you potential for a lot of flex. The best solutions I had seen on the exo are gone (member vendors who went away), but for those bashing with the yeti, like my son, this is an area that desperately needs attention. My personal plan is to do some different things.

1. STRC bumper mount.
2. I am going to try a Mugen hinge pin I found yesterday.
3. RPM arm most likely drilled.
4. I am gong to make a sleeve for the rest of the a-arm.

I am not sure what I am going to do on the back of the Diff housing.

I'm using 1/8" ti rod bought of the internet. I drilled out the holes for em, bought 4 collars for $2.99 and all said and done $11.00 to make them pretty much bullet proof. Shipping killed me on the ti though. How can a envelope cost $7 with a chunk of ti in it that weight .007 oz?
