Default Stock esc

Ive been running my yeti on stock electronics. On 3s 5200 50c. Have switched 2 wires to run correctly for the ssd rear axle. Ive noticed lately that at under 50% throttle it stumbles. Mostly if doing donuts. Also does it in straight line if trying to crawl at less than 10% throttle.. also i cant find any info on the leds on the esc as to what they mean. It eas flashing red/yellow together and had no motor control..

It's a castle sidewinder 3 essentially just rebranded for Axial. Look up the info for castle as far as the LEDs and you will find everything you need.

Could be overheating.

The stock esc is pretty much at its limit with the 3150kv motor, especially if you have geared it up for speed. And part throttle works it harder.

Do you have all stock gearing?

The gear swap is the equivalent to a few more teeth on the pinion, so I am guessing that esc is overheating.

The best solution is to buy a really good esc, like a Castle Mamba X, which will handle the amperage and give you a higher capacity bec. And you can run a sensored motor in the future.

On the cheap you may find a hobbywing esc or the like that will solve the problem. I don't have personal experience with those, but a search of this forum by post may show you some options.

Castle Creations Mamba X WP ESC and 1406-6900KV Sensored Combo

I like the castle combos; the 2850kv is better suited for the yeti weight and gearing. With the 3800 you will have to be careful with gearing.

Castle Creations Mamba X Sensored 25.2V WP ESC and 1406-2850Kv Sensored Combo

I ended up buying the Mamba X and pairing it with a Tekin ROC 412 HD 3100 kv, for better low end control and for being 'element proof'. Here I have the 'overdrive' setup of the transmission gears, a 16t pinion, but 5" tall tires (the TT uses 4.5").

I used it for crawling in my yeti with the 2-speed option installed, and I thought it worked pretty good, but dropping a couple a teeth on the pinion would make it even smoother and operate cooler. the bomber uses the same transmission and gearing, and you won't miss (with the smaller pinion) the reduced top end in the bomber.

No, been there done that. Even with a 10T pinion and 43/13 axles the yeti motor was way faster than the bomber chassis can handle, it’s great for doing donuts but rolls over almost constantly. The non sensored Yeti motor also cogs really bad when trying to crawl really slow, even with the 2 speed trans. I run my bomber with the stock esc and a Traxxas 21T 550 motor, it’s cheap and a perfect match for the bomber. It’s fast enough for bashing and there is enough low speed control to crawl even in high gear, but where it’s really great is with the trans in low. I figured the motor would be a throw away, but I’ve been running it for dozens of 2+ hour 3S packs.

Why did you have to swap the wires? The rear axle can have the ring gear on either side by flipping the housing

I have a ssd centered 60 rear axle. Cannot flip the locker/gear

Its easier to swap the wires the tesr apart the front end to flip the front diff.
