Default New to forum and axial yeti 1/10

hi everyone,
long time lurker so finally signed up since im stuck lol .im looking to get some decent speed out of this thing ,dont care much for crawling but could be a plus i suppose. mainly bashing is my intent.

i picked up a axial yeti kit 2nd hand and cant decide on motor/esc. im leaning towards the hobbywing wp-sc8 as i had one in a converted revo and never had any issues . are there any decent budget motors that would be good for what i want that will work with this esc?i was also offered a sidewinder 3 and 3800 motor how would this do?

money is tight atm after buying the kit and other non rc stuff .

I'm very happy with my SC8 esc and 3800kv castle motor. The sidewinder 3 is okay if you don't plan on 3s, but it will quickly overheat with 3s and the 3800kv/sw3 combo (I know from experience). It's about as fast as the Yeti needs to be with the SC8/3800kv on 3s, and has gobs of torque.

Haven't ran it on 4s yet but I'd say around 35~40mph on 3s. Really don't see the need for much more power unless you have some seriously steep hills. You will quickly find that you will need an aluminum motor mount and an MIP driveshaft if you plan on running 3s.

Look for a Chinese copy of the CC2650 on flea bay, $40.shipped from the other side of the world. Great deals, but upgrades will be needed, I started with the MIP and no issues on 3s I'm running a sensored 3000kv Tekin , but I'm geared down for more crawling than speed.

I'd be interested to see how the cc2650 would preform in the yeti

I run one in my slash 4x4, heavily modified but only weighs in at 6.5 lbs, my Yeti is almost 2 pounds heavier, I debated between a 2500 and 3000 tekin, i went 3000 as I'm never going to use 4s, downside with the CC2650 is it's not sensored, and will cog at crawling speed

The Castle Creation's Neu Castle 2650kv is a good balance of speed and power on 3S. I never got the chance to run it on 4S. The 2650kv Neu Castle would get me about 28 mph maximum on 3S. Unfortunately the same model of ESC I use on my Yeti, is also the same model used on my eBuggy, and I have fried the two BECs in that eBuggy while using those super low budget ESCs. So, I just went back to 2S in the Yeti for the time being until I get better speed control.

Stock vanguard esc is a castle sw, not really made for that 2650, I run a MMP with mine and an external bec due to heat in the esc on 3s

I went to a RR slipper and MIP driveshaft along with axial HD gears front and back. I also upgraded the servo, motor and esc....including an external bec for the servo.

All Yetis have steel transmission gears and the kit has upgraded diffs as well. Those should be good enough.

2650 Kv ?

The issue with the yeti is it's not really a speed racer. I've got mine geared down for decent crawlabilty in low gear, and enough wheelspeed to make it a handful on long straights, then it has to turn.
I might be getting 16 or 17 mph max...
