Default homemade yeti metal bumper.

Well I hated the way the stock bumper started looking, it was all scratched to hell and started cracking (my 10 year old thought the yeti could fly) so I decided to make my own steel bumper. How hard can it be? (I used to build custom turbo manifold and systems back in the days) so It wasn't too hard, but it wasn't a cake walk either, eyeballed, most of it, by just copying over the stock design, changed it up a bit and added a mini stinger.

I had most of materials already laying around the garage. Made my own tabs and skid plate, sand blasted and Powdercoated it flat black. All in all took about 3 hours to build

Thoughts?, comments? Yes I know I need a tig welder for those Uber sexy welds.

Thanks, yes its mig welded, for stuff this small I found myself having to cut the welding wire down with snips before each weld. Very annoying, but very necessary so it wouldn't puddle up so much.

Man, that looks killer! Great work! Only thing I'd like to see, though, is maybe the skid plate welded completely in rather than tacked in a few spots. But it looks like it should hold up really well! Might have to commission you to build one for me soon!

The skid plate is on there pretty solid, has about 10 solid spot welds, didn't want to completely weld the whole thing on there and risk overheating and burning through the stainless sheet metal.

I built one for a local friend and he's been beating the hell out of it daily for a few days now and it's still in tact. (Skid plate has a few dents, and the powder coat took a beating, but he showed them rocks who's boss)

I'm not too sure, probably topcad or something, got the whole front setup on asiatees for $50. Yeti took a digger off a 10ft ledge and snapped both stock plastic arms one hub and carrier and lost the kingpin. Stock axial parts were going to run almost the same.

They are actually pretty tough. I've bashed into the curb at high speed numerous times and they haven't even bent. Probably going to sand blast or strip the anodizing off.

Thanks for the compliments. Bumper is still holding up, scratched to hell. Lots of rocks up here in Big Bear ca

Probably going to build a light bar guard, because that lightbar is taking a beating.

I have no idea, my coworker bought it online thinking it was a full sized light bar for his truck. Only to get a tiny box delivered (he didn't read the dimensions). He was mad as hell, and ended up giving it to me. It fit perfectly on the roof. Its a little tall but it's bright as hell on 3s and it's taken a beating.

Sold the old one to a friend, and built two of these today. Decided I wanted it to look more like the original one, just tough as nails. And I wanted a mount for my vp light bar. Up in bigbear it gets pitch black at night, and you can never have too much lighting.

Powdercoated one matte black, and I love the way sandblasted metal looks, im going to just powdercoat the other one clear with a matte finish.
