| My reciver is too big
I got a new fly sky it4 transmitter but the reciver is too big to fit in the water tight housing. Short of dremeling the hell out of the plastic, what other options do I have?

Put it in the fuel cell or get a smaller rx.

Lots of room in the fuel cell.

You could always throw it in a balloon, zip tie it, then seal it with liquid electrical tape (or Plastidip). Doesn't look the best, but it's much more waterproof than the rx box in the chassis.

I've never seen a fly sky receiver but is de-casing it an option?

Check out hobbypartz.com for Flysky RX's. They have 3ch, 6ch, and 8ch if memory serves. All very cheap. My 3ch fits in the stock RX location albeit a tight fit with BEC wires and whatnot. I would avoid Plastidip / balloon method. IMO Plastidip has always failed me eventually and it looks like terrible. I am a full supporter of Conformal coating. I have fully submerged my electronics with them coated in the stuff. You could decase a Flysky RX, just remove the 2 small screws and pry the 2 tabs. EZ PZ I've got a Waterproofing guide on the Youtubes if it helps. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...SBFBwRxeP88XLv |

I had to put my spektrum RX in the fuel cell because of its size, at the end of the day I actually prefer it that way, I think I will be using the lower location for my CC BEC.

After a run in with some deeper water, I found the reciever box in the bottom of the chassis is not as waterproof as I thought. I have since moved everything to the fuel cell.

I like the fuel cell location better for the electronics. I'm not that crazy about the receiver location with all the harsh bottoming, the fuel cell IMO is better place to ride in a Yeti.

The only problem of the fuel cell is do the wiring to and from there...

i just taped it to the to the cage behind the esc and ran it over the the battery tray to the center of the fuel cell. I just put a notch in the fuel sell for the wires to run through so there is only a small hole when the cover is back on the fuel cell.

this RX supports telemetry which is why it is so big. you can use the smaller Flysky RX but you lose telemetry which is kinda the whole point of this system lol. Good to know about the lower compartment not being water tight, you might be able to take the grommets from the lower box and use them with the fuel cell to make a nice clean pass through. After reading this I think I will move everything up.

I was able to bundle the esc, servo and motor heat sink fan in some wide heat tube. I ran it under the battery tray and up to the bottom of the fuel cell. I then put a bead of silicone around the heat tube. This should be 100% water tight from the underside of the car. Then I drilled out the hole in the fuel filler neck and ran the rx wire out of it, which looks pretty cool
