Default 8 scale motor n esc in yeti 1/10 scale

Hey guys
So everybody knows that the yeti 1/10 scale rock racer is more like a standard 1/8 scale 4x4 in size (length n width). So what im wondering is can you then run motor and esc setup that would be used in a 8 scale 4x4? And other 8 scale parts could be used also if thats the case hey?
I just dont want to wreck a good upgraded axial yeti by going the wrong setup but i want something with heaps of grunt for formula offroad driving and hard fast rock bashing style crawling as i live right at the biggest sand dunes in nsw plus we have heaps of awesome rocks for some rock bouncing/fast crawling.
Thanks guys
Snyds

I would say most people do run "1/8 scale" systems in the yeti already.

There are some 1/8th scale motors that will fit. I know castle makes one, i think its the 2650, i'd have to check again. Im eventually going to put it in mine. I already have a Mamba Monster 2 esc in it.

What are you guys doing to the drive train to handle that kind of power
I have a 1/10 scale and from what I was told it would bearly handle 3s
Is that not true
It would be way cool to be able to run 4s
I have a Tekin rx8 esc and the stock axial motor
Will that motor handle 4s

You don't need a 42mm diameter 1/8th scale motor. I'm running a Pro4hd 2500kv on 4s and it has a ton of power. The temps stay under 130 in FL.

THEY BLOW UP. Sure, get HD axle gears. They last a bit longer, maybe. Yetis can't take the silly fast stuff people try throwing at them. Too many people bought yetis that should of just bought slash 4x4s or newb stuff. No tact about driving them for intended use.

That's what I was wondering how the heck are they
Getting the 1/10 scale yeti to handle 4s
I run 4s on my yeti xl and I'm breaking stuff with that
I mean 4s would be cool but I don't want to have to rebuild
Every 10 min

Tgreer- sound awesome mate n what i was thinking of. ? how did you go with the extra size and weight with that setup? ie did you need to stiffen up the front suspension. Does that motor and esc have adjustable timing, profiles or anything like that? can you post up the exact setup your running 4S on from the scale yeti xl plz??

I really like the Tekin Rx8 gen 2 esc, whats your thoughts on that for my yeti using it for formula offroad/rock racer/track type driving. I love that it can run 2s 4s or 6s. would the pro4hd be better for my setup or the pro4? whats there benifits?
what would you say is better to go with the RX8 or castle monster mamba 2 or ????
cheers guys great help.
cheers guys

Stock tranny upgraded to the Axial 2 speed. HD underdrive gears and a MIP shaft. Otherwise stock drivetrain.

The Yeti was built for speed. Look at the Trophy truck they just released on the same platform. Mine will easily run 35 to 40 mph. Not one problem with gears or drivetrain on 4s in 30+ hard runs. Getting the ring and pinion shimmed correctly makes a big difference. Tires haven't come out of bead locks since original build. My Yeti easily handles the power, it all comes down to how it's put together.

Tom- most the guys that wanna run 4s are the same ones jumping them 4 feet and smacking curbs. I have a yeti, it's fine, but I run 2s and a 2 sp tranny. Different center rear driveshaft and it's ran countless miles and trails and even a u4 race. I knew what I was talking about.

The advantage of the rx8 is it's a sensored system that means smother
Controls
Now the mm2 is water proof as where the Tekin is not
The mm2 2200kv motor will handle 6s
The Tekin 2250 it only rated for 4s
The Tekin is better for smooth driving it's a good system

So tekin would be no good in formula offroad or any water crossing stuff? Or does it handle alittle spray or can you protect it anyway to handle some fast water crossing.

Ive had good luck with my pro4 tekin getting a little spray action, but im on edge thinking it could crap out anytime.

If your debating on going to 8th scale motor/esc dont miss out on the mamba monster 2, there like $200 for a combo right now. To get the castle 550 motor with the esc its like $190.... Why not have a little more power and be water proof for $10 extra??? I had to get motor/esc this week and my local hobby town just so happened to have the 2200kv mamba monster combo, I figured could get it to fit and pulled the trigger. After 3 packs im sold and ive just oredered a 4s battery so over powering is not a problem with 3s. If you drive smart you can save the drivetrain from certain doom. Oh fyi the install is simple but you have to have a compact battery, nothing over 44mm wide.

Rock-lockster I have that same combo, but I just used the esc. I had it in an 1/8th buggy. Didn't want to cut the battery box to fit the motor.

you could also get the MMX and additional sensor harness from tower and use discount code to get a real good price.

Red Fox i didnt want to cut it either but i knew it would fit because i run smaller batteries to keep the weight down. The response of the trigger is amazing, she feels light on her toes, an agile gazelle.

I just installed a Hobbywing Xerun combo with 4700kv. Used a 17t pinion and stock spur. And it was incredible speed. Before I strip the plastic spur..
