Default I need to buy my yeti a cheerleader outfit.

Because that idiot loves doing cartwheels all day.

So the longer side of my axle shaft is so bent it constantly loosens up my lockout.
This is on aluminum vp axle housing and strc lockouts. Top hole on the vp unit is almost stripped. I need to replace the shaft and most likely step up to vp clamping lockouts.

Questions!
Could i run beef tubes inside the vp housing? Or am i making crazy talk?
Answers?

The whole reason to run beef tubes is to add strength to your axle. If you have a metal axle housing you wouldn't need it.

I would suggest get new shafts....VP, DLux, or creeperbob makes some super nice Ti
shafts that are pretty damn nice.

Get the clamping lockouts. Then some Creeper Bob TI shafts. New bearings and your done.

Or! Orrrr...?
I can get a whole new unit (housing, shafts, bearings, etc) if i just grab me an ssd d60 centered axle kit for the same price as vp clamping lockouts!
Problem solved?!
I think at $30 its worth a shot! And as a bonus, it looks much more scale than the vp offset unit i have now.
Sure, the downside is, plastic. But man... thirty bucks!!!

It was cheaper than upgrading stock axial and beef tubes

Really? Everywhere i see its $100. I looked into replacement shafts and clamping lockouts, but this ssd for $30 comes with litterally everything.
Im sceptical of the plastic housing, but hopefully it will be like running rpm front arms and flex just enough to reduce impacts.

110, I did get a discount. By the time I added bearing caps, clamping lockouts, and beef tubes, I spent the same . The diamond is a tighter axle

I pulled the trigger on the $30 ssd centered.
For that price, if it sucks i can sell my current vp and the ssd, and only need a bit more to grab a daimond.
I just had to at 30 bucks. Plus i used the fathers day code at rpp for 15% off.
Tossed in some axial light buckets and scale fire extinguisher decals while i was at it ;)
Nearly got a proline baja bug body but... im going to try making my own panels first.

Yeti got some love today. Oh! And i got the body for my vaterra project! Jconcepts 79 ford!

Ok guys. We haz problem.

Somebody mentioned somewhere on here the ssd 60 has the gears on the other side. So, it spins the rear tires BACKWARDS when you pull trigger on transmitter. Meanwhile, fronts are unchanged and still going forward.

SSD, YOU GOT SOME SPLAININ TO DO.

solution was mentioned by same person, same post, but i dont like it.
Either flip the axle, meaning plug holes and make new ones for the upper link truss
Or
Pull front gears and flip them to match rear, and reverse the wires from the esc?

Both sound like a huge load of poop to me. And now i am starting to understand why these axles are only $30.
However... build quality is excellent, and the swap went superb even without instructions on what hardware goes where.
Also convenient i used the nose bearings from the ocp in the wheel ends of the new d60.

Overall im very happy with the fitment, appearance, and overall quality.
But... why does my yeti want to go two different directions now, ssd?!

I had high hopes of going crawling tomorrow morning, maybe even see about meeting up with some san diego folks or temecula folks. But now? Fehhhhhh...
Gotta research this and maybe even contact ssd. Hopefully i dont have to put the vp ocp back in.

End rant. I hope.

flip front diff, to match direction of the rear. and if brushless change motor direction in the esc, if brushed just chance wires on the motor afterwards.

just checked the ae3 manual, it doesn't show the motor direction option
but it's non sensored so just flip the two outer wires on the motor connection to change direction.
the ae3 is based on a castle esc maybe you can set it with castle link, but it's only a guess cause i don't have an ae3.

Yep i will just flip the two wires. Ae3 is not known for tuning lol
I will get a better esc with trail brake if/when i get a 2 speed and get serious about making this yeti more of a crawler.

Trying to get hyped up enough and motivate myself to gear open the front diff to flip gears but... lazy sunday and i still need to mow the lawn.
Bleh. Doesnt help its not even noon and already 80 outside.

I hear you! I work in my shed.... was using the infra red heat sensor, my ambient bench temp was 97, ceiling was 129.
New roof/insulation coming, will be curious how much it will drop.
