Default GCM Axial trans Front Mount

This little bad boy gives you a simple and direct mount to move your axial center trans to the front of your scale truck, and use any number of t-cases on the center skidplate. Take a look at the description link here or check out the pictures below.

As you can see, the axial center trans motor mount plate has been replaced with this GCM front mount, and the whole motor and transmission can be mounted between the shock towers of a scale chassis, in this case our CrossCanyon chassis, making room for a transfer case. The mount itself looks like this:

When you move the axial trans and motor to the nose, you can drop in a t-case and get the center section REAL LOW, which makes room for a full interior in your scale build, and keeps the drivetrain parts in the places they should be.. motor in the nose, tcase in the center, and proper axles and driveshafts. In our frame it looks like this:

This mount also works great in a multi axle rig also, due to the simple side mounting. You can stick this mount between just about any frame rails in just about any position to drive multi axle rigs or multiple transfer cases. Easy as it gets.

For those who don't know GCM, is a full service 3d cad and CNC shop in Canada, and has been producing and selling RC parts worldwide for years. We also entertain machining jobs for other designers and production for anyone, as well as our own line of crawler and offroad parts. We rotate through our production runs every 4 or 5 weeks, so anything out of stock in the store will be back soon enough. Thanks.

As you can see from the above pictures, this Axial front mount is assembled to have the motor and trans forward of the axle. In the pictures below you can see the mount installed in the reverse position. There's nothing to change except installing the mount in the other direction.
In this case we also show installed our 5 pole crawl motor as well as a dogbone cup that runs the transfer case.

This setup shown brings the motor and transmission setup down low and towards the center of the vehicle, but still leaves a ton of room for full floor interiors as well as a transfer case on the skidplate. It's so simple to set up, and accepts 20t pinion with a stock 87t axial spur, and still has tons of hood clearance. Shown bolted directly to our CrossCanyon Chassis, but fits many scale chassis conversions.
All units shipped are Black Anodize finish as shown.

Do you see any issues with this working with the killer transfer case?

technically it will work. We offer a t-case with the offset also, so the fitment of the axles is a no brainer.
If the Killer t-case is geared low enough (ours is 1:1) then you can also use this direct drive mount we stock (contact GCM) and it looks like this:

So you have some options. If you want to use a center motor mounted for direct drive there it is, but you would need some sort of gear reduction unit with the above pictured Direct Drive mount, or some low geared axles like the Losi Comp Crawler units with worm drive. With the Killer t-case our Axial front mount is the ticket. It simply replaces the motor plate of the Axial setup, and then bolts right to the rails.

Just curious, I know this is an older thread, but will this work on a stock SCX10 or do you have a newer front motor mount for the SCX10? And would your 1:1 ratio xfer case bolt on directly to the skid plate in the center of the SCX10?

Thanks for the Questions.
The SCX frame sets taper in going forward on the frame, and that makes it too narrow for the use of this mount as well as our frame mount servo bracket. These work well with non-tapered frames.

The T-Case can be bolted to just about any Axial-trans mounting, 2 of the holes can be re-used, and 2 of the holes for the t-case will have to be drilled into your skid.

How does a front motor/tranny set up perform (on the trail) compared to a center set up?

This brings a bunch of weight forward, which is great for hilling and better balance. If you have any need at all for a rear battery, like a Dingo or the New Axial JK, then this is the perfect match. You can keep your battery in the back and move all the motor and trans weight to the front, and get a real nicely balanced truck. And the best news is the servo gets a frame mount in the combo kit also, making it more scale also. And you get the interior space back.
This is even more evident when you use the 2speed AX2 trans from RC4wd up front. It's much heavier than the axial stocker and makes the nose nicely planted for hilling and climbing. I find the trucks balance and run trails the best when the weight center is right in front of the Transfer Case in the truck, and that seems to be where this setup allows. All the times I've built with this platform so far have ended up with the weight center about 1/2 to 1/4 in front of the t-case, just by the component layout, and that makes for some real good trail performance!
