I might be taking my brother-in-law and cousin this weekend to Vasquez Rocks...I'll PM you details if we're a go (it all depends on the weather this Saturday or Sunday)

Vasquez is about 34 miles from Burbank. Not sure where you're located but the drive isn't that bad. Crawling there is pretty good...a lot better than Hansen Dam for sure.

Here's more details on VR

It looks like Sunday for me tentatively. The only reason why I am not considering Hansen Dam is because of all the recent rain - not sure how the rock bed would be like after all this rain.

For batteries, I always take my charger with me just in case. So far on both times that I've gone to VR or even Hansen, my 4500MAH NIMH packs lasted long enough (approx. 2 hours) on a single charge. It's better to charge up all your packs the night before and bring 2 or 3 depending on how long you plan on being there. Based on my experience, my 4500 as mentioned lasts around 2 hours + and my spare 1500 can go for a good 30 minutes.

Here are some pics of the last two times I went to VR:

I'll let you know for sure what time Sunday when we go. I'll update this thread Saturday.

Man you just need one then . No need to bring all 4 unless you plan on camping out there .

I say bring 2 and you're going to be good to go.
