Duratrax Raze to Crawler...is it possible?

Back around Thanksgiving I slung a rod in the motor of my Raze. Nitro was fun and it was a pain and I really don't want to spend the money for a new motor. I have a Rustler that gets ran very little so I have an esc and tranny to go along with all the Raze parts. I also have a spare 35 turn motor. Would it work to lock the independent supsension on the Raze similar to an E-maxx, fab up a frame, and use all the other stuff to make it work? Or could I fab up some kind of sand rail without spending tons of money?
