Default My crazy cheap Bruiser/Mounty story

This is one of those stories you hear about...that you wish would happen to you.

Finally happened to me.

This local guy had been talking about this old Tamiya he's had for years with "a Toyota body and a transmission you can shift."

I'd asked him how much he wanted, he didn't know.

Went to the shop today, ran into him again.

We talked for a bit and I asked if he still had it.

"Yeah, still sitting in the box. I'd take $200 for it if you still want it."

Asked him what condition it was in, said he'd built it, ran it for about twenty minutes, then it sat forever and he started modifying it.

He cut up the electronics box, turned down the outer bead on the wheels, cut through the rear tranny mount so he could (gasp) mount an E-Maxx tranny, and bent the small leafs down in an attempt to get more flex.

I said "Hrrm..." and was thinking about buying it.

I stayed quiet for a while and he finally said "Tell you what, $100 and it's yours."

I followed him to his house and got it.

Axles are in perfect shape, there's two sets of frame rails, body is in real good shape, bumpers and nerfs are in good shape, blah, blah, blah.

What's funny is this old body looks like the new body I just painted to look faded and dusty/dirty.

No sense in posting pictures of the axles and junk, you guys know what that crap looks like.

It sat for a while before I sprayed the body with Simple Green and got 16 years of dust off it.

Damn 16 year old body looks better than the one I finished less than a month ago. Kind of funny that this old thing the same color and all as the Hilux I just built...but no rust.

So...what kind of build would you guys do with it?

There's one complete frame with the main cross-member for the tranny cut, a 2nd set of frame rails, all the shocks, both axles, leafs, etc are there.

Wheels have had outer beads removed, the tires are missing.

Ideas?

You realize everyone here is hating you right now. Right place at the right time I guess. Someday maybe I will find one of those deals. But right now you suck.
