It's actually a FiberFab Avenger Kit Car patterned after a GT40. Originally built in the late 1960s, it's positioned on a VW Beetle chassis with a Corvair engine and transmission

Actually that's really old news. It was on Monster Garage like what, five years ago?

And actually that thing was a POS, and those guys made fools of themselves. They talked a bunch of smack about the Monster Garage Bronco, and how they were going to show Jesse and his team up by building one that was way better. So they built a crappy rig and tossed a lame body on it, and proceeded to humiliate themselves. I guess that's what you get when a bunch of nerds think they are better then everyone else

Almost every GT40 Ive seen is a kit car replica. I just meant that the body style was GT40, it's even printed on the door.

I thought Monstor Garage did a lifted corvette? I didnt see every episode.

Why not just cut up a Corvair to fit under that shell?

Must be a Delorean thing. You guys remember the monster garage episode where some delorean guys were to make a delorean hovercraft? It failed miserably too. Wonder if these were the same delorean guys. They've had some really bad and really good people on that show. Ian the host from Extreme 4x4 was on it. I know a guy that was on the one where they turned a truck into a gorilla hauler.

A few of the "real" ones are replicas, too. There's maybe 100 serial numbers, some with more than one car: One "original" that's been re-tubbed, and one clone, made with the repaired original tub. Which is the "real" car? The debate has raged for 40 years and won't be resolved here.

GT40's history by serial number: http://gt40.net/

A real one is worth close to a million if it's got the right history. You're not gonna see it in the Wal-Mart parking lot

MG did a lifted Stingray for mudding.

The DeLorean crawler episode should have aired on Junkyard Wars. It was that kind of build.
