Default Self built go karts

If you have one lets see it. I'm sure tons of guys on here have em and I was surprised not to see a thread already when I searched. Lets see what you used to build with. Any tips or tricks? I'll post up mine with pictures tonight.... it's still a ways to go but very low cost due to what I got given to me to use!

I am not sure which one looks more deadly to me...

First one has a pretty weak looking cage and fuel cans in your face.....

Second one just looks like it is waiting to rip your head off

Actually the cage is stong as hell..it was rolled once..not by me tho..and the cans were a temp thing..kinda in the building process where it's ready to run accept that and it's just like DAMN...I wanna drive it..screw it throw some gas cans here...

the second ones not quite as fast so...lol it's a little less deadly I guess

first ones a cbr750 motor the second ones only 450..

Nice. I'd like to see that first one run. My racing kart has a 45 hp engine and it's all I can handle. I'd love to see what 4 cylinders can do...

If you need more ideas google "formula sae" and "mini baja". Any college with a good engineering program will compete in those two. Some of the stuff they make is incredible.

I didnt build mine, but for the little while I raced it was alot of fun. Raced on 1/4 mile dirt oval track. Without the restrictor plate, estimated speeds are in the 50+ MPH range. No roll cage, so if you wreck you fly.

Slick tires, average ground clearance is in the 1'' range.
Not sure what frame either. Its not a shifter cart, just single speed, centrifugal clutch. The engine is a Wayne's Performance Motors, runs on methanol, 4 stroke, not sure on the HP rating or size (Its been several years since I raced it.)

Needs some work, but with some know how, could easily be made into a top notch dirt racer. Best for kids in the ages of 8 to 15. I am tryin to sell it, so if you are interested, PM me. It does have a brand new red body, I dont have any pictures of it though with the body on.

I raced Karts like Krawlins for years, I was a regular Go Kart junkie I just love them. But a complication called MS put me on the sidelines after 15 awesome years. Best bang for the buck in motorsports no question. I have pictures but none are digital and no scanner.

I had to stop racing because of a medical condition, too.(If I got injured and had to be in a hospital bed, I could get a blood clot pretty quickly in my leg that could travel to my heart and/or lung and I could die). But man, they sure are fun. Especially with no restrictor plate, it makes it alot easier to power slide/drift through the corners. And I totally agree with the best bang for the buck. I dont know about shifter karts, as I heard those get expensive really fast, but the dirt track karts are cheap, simple, and easy to maintain.

If I was physically able I would still be Karting today and I'm turning 60 this year, I actually anounced for two different Kart racing groups for a few years after I quit driving. What a kick azz sport freaking fast. lol
