Guess I was the test dummy.....or the only idiot that bought a vista pc.

Everything seems the same so far. I am going to see if I can find out what the updates were for. It was a little over 60MB.

I didn't know it was out yet, I thought it was supposed to be released in April. I'm going to have to check it out when I get home from work.

It will be April before it hits the automatic updates. You can manually install it as of the 18th. Just go to your control panel and update or you can go through the website.

BTW, I read your build thread last night. I love that truck. Very nice build.

we've bought 4 pc's with vista and each one was immediately upgraded to Xp pro. can you believe they make hardware that will only work with vista? We had to get another nic for one of the pc's because its not supported by xp. that said, Xp SP3 hosed my work pc 2 days ago.

install it and cross your fingers.

Haha! Fawk vista! XP Pro baby! There will never be a need for more than 16mb of ramm.....

I think the large dl size was to give you something to fill your overly large hdd.

Thanks for the link, but waaay too wordy with little content. Never really spells out exactly what is different...only rambles on telling you how great it is. Typical Microsukk.

Quote from the summary at end of the link:

"[1] Beta testers will find that after installing Windows Vista SP1, they no longer have access to GPMC, and that the new, enhanced version of GPMC has not yet been released. In this case, administrators can continue to edit Group Policy by opening a remote desktop session directly to the server or to a PC running the release to manufacturing (RTM) version of Windows Vista."

That's a pita and you are screwed if all you're running is the beta...gotta buy to get functionality back.

Really liked my W2k pro beta....but XP is best so far if you're staying with Microsoft os.
