Default Listening To Anything Good?

As of lately I have been heavily relying on music to separate myself from the reality that I'm currently in. When my music is on, nothing else matters. If its a good beat or a hypnotic lyric, I'll listen to it. Rap, rock, electronica... it's all good by me. But I've been finding it hard lately to find anything good by all of these "mainstream" artists on the radio...

For the past two days I've had Girl Talk's "Feed The Animals" album on repeat. Its a 53 minute long mash up. You can hear Jay-Z, The Band, Michale Jackson, The Police and Busta Rhyms seamlessly blend together.... I know it sounds a bit hard to comprehend, but it's worth a listen. One of the weirdest mash-ups in this album would be Lil Momma rapping over top of some of the heaviest Metalica riffs ever. If you are remotely open to heavily influenced hip-hop, check out "Feed The Animals".

Another album that I've been listening to a lot lately is called "Ghostly Swim". It's a free download offered by Cartoon Network's late night crew at AdultSwim. It's a compilation of a number of very unknown electronica artists, unless you are really into this genre. This is something that I can listen to over and over in the background. It's just a very peppy retro trip with a number of tracks that sound like a classic arcade.

Also, if you like to hear new things and don't really rely on one form of music, check out CanYouSeeTheSunSet.com. It's a blog by a guy back east who pretty much is like me at the moment, he's constantly looking to hear new things. I find myself checking out his page for new artists a couple times a day so that I can add new life to my music collection.

New Artists To Me
Architecture In Helsinki
Aesop Rock
Pendulum
Glossary (These guys have a free album download on their site)
Airbourne
Cool Calm Pete
Ivoryline
Vampire Weekend
HURT

So.... have you heard anything good lately?

I've been listening to Judas Priests new double CD Nostradamus. It took a while for me to warm up to it but IMHO, its' one of the best studio Concept/Theme albums of all time.

I'm a half assed bass player and I've been on a Motown binge lately. I find that playing along to those old songs is fun and relaxing.

Flo-Bots... pretty good lately.

Been checking out Coheed and Cambria lately, just got turned onto them. They have 4 albums all in sequence telling a tripped out story. Trying to catch up....

http://youtube.com/watch?v=3ZrC39EBnOU

They have a show coming up in NY and LA called Neverender, playing all 4 albums, one each night...

Then I pick and choose between how I feel. Right now(friday @ 11am'ish) I'm listening to the "Chillout". Around 1pm I'll switch to the "Indie Rock" station. Then by 4pm our shipper/receiver guys computer at the back of our warehouse will logon to the "Classic Rap" he has a few speakers and a sub hooked up back there.

Have you gotten the "Punk Goes Crunk" cd? I love it! Got it last month and it's on my USB in my Jeep. I love the Scary Kids Scaring Kids rendition of "Daze Of Our Lives".

Coheed & Cambria is one of my fav bands. A very strangs, but very rocking group of guys. If you have the chance to see them, I highly suggest it.

Flo-Bot's are cool, but you should hear "Scottsdale Bars"... it's a remake by a local radio DJ. F'ing hilarious.

I like Rammstein...that band is not even close man. Their singer ruins the band.
