Measure the resistance of the stock bulb, subtract the resistance from the LED bulb and the remaining resistance is what you need to add in the form of a resistor.
thanks woodie, yeah ive seen those, the problem is you end up with a small 1" dot for a brakelight/ turn signal, not exactly good looking or safe lol. looks like somekinda cheap halloween toy or something
now i have seen some really expensive ones that shoot leds around the sides too, (not just rearward) that help elimuminate more of the reflective dish area.

This is what I did in my heap taillights...however, the lens reflects the light in different directions....

Most common LEDs have a very small beam cone. There does exist LEDs with ~170 degree beam patterns that is nearly identical to that of an incandescent bulb. This larger beam pattern will use the reflective surfaces in the OEM housing much like the incandescent bulbs. The trick is to find a reliable person to buy from who will tell you the intensity of the light. Typically a good led replacement "bulb" is quite a bit of money. Lemme do some searching and see what I can find.

Ok nevermind, I can search for hours. If you really want me to look into it I can. If you search Mouser or Allied electronics, they have thousands of LED's, however you have to build a housing/socket to use it in your housings. Whatever you find, get the highest wattage there is, or the most lumens.

In the Motorcycle world all you need is to add a resistor inline to slow them down or sometimes certain bikes blinker relays can be swapped out.

Stang, I prefer the stock ones over those to be honest.

Looks good for aftermarket taillights, I was expecting the Altezza style ones but those seem to look good on the car! I have looked at LEDtronics buld replacements since they have the style that aim some of the LED's into the reflector aswell, but to convert my Jeep over fully would be something like $250 not including converting over to an electronic flasher for the turn signals.

I am kind or torn. Maybe if the lense was a little smoked, maybe a coat of the tinting paint.

Just throwing it out there.

My car has then stock, they look decent on my ride but are bordering rice-ish

That sounds like a good idea. On the stock housings that is.

meh...

I have seen some good quality tails out there... and some not...

But i will say this, with all the mods on all of my cars, the Sunfire, The H3, and the CTS all rock factory tails...

(I do love led tails though, just not most of the aftermarket ones)
