| Thank You Military Vets!
as i was waiting to vote this morning before work, i was thinking that we all needed to thank our military vets! THANK YOU! thank you for defending our great country where we ARE ALLOWED to pick our leaders freely. it often escapes our attention, but there are still A LOT of countries out there where the citizens are not given the great opportunity that we are given EVERY NOVEMBER! just once again, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! keith |

I come from a military family. I served in the Navy during Operation Desert Storm. My father and uncle served in the Air Force during Vietnam. And my grandfather served in the Army during WWII. I gave him the biggest hug I could just before he passed away to say " THANK YOU ". TO ALL THOSE STILL IN HARMS WAY GOOD LUCK AND GOD SPEED FOR YOUR SAFE RETURN. |

I would also like to say thanks to ALL who serve/served our country. I didnt get a chance to serve in Desert Storm , I am deaf in one ear , and they wouldnt accept me. I have new 3 heros now , my sons who have all served in Iraq . 2 were Tip of the Sword , on the first wave going in and the youngest just got home in March after 9 months. My wife wrote this poem , reading TattooKenny's post made me think of it and I thought I would share it with you'all. Dwane They are more than soldiers to me They are the daughters and sons, who chose to carry the guns, That allows our country to remain free. And they are more than soldiers to me. To some they are the people, to protest against. To others the heroes at war. To some they are just soldiers fighting a battle. To others they are family and more. They’re the moms and dads that children live without, they ‘re the husbands and wives far away. They’re the ones that will be killed while fighting the war, while the protesters have the freedom to stay. They are the daughters and sons, who chose to carry the guns, That allows our country to remain free. And they are more than soldiers to me. Tears will be shed for the alive and the dead, While we wait for the end of this fight. Some disagree while others support, But who really knows what is right. This country allows us the freedom to choose, And the right to become part of the team. So raise your hand and salute the people who chose, To give all of us the American dream. And remember: That they are the daughters and sons, Who chose to carry the guns, That allows our country to remain free. And they are more than soldiers to me. By Danna Oliver 01-04-06 © |

Great thread. Good job STEEL CITY CRAWLER To DwaneO, very nice poem your wife wrote. I wish you and your family the best. As I wish all of our military men and women and their families the best. Us civilians cant even start to imagine what its like for soldiers and their families that go through war. I cant thank you that serve enough for what you do and, the funny thing is most of you say no thanks needed, that really shows your heart and how much you believe in what you do. We believe in you also and are behind you 100% no questions asked. Thanks to all our military men and women! We will all pray for you and your families. |
