| September 20th...
Found out this past Thursday that the 20th of September will be my last day of work on Ft. Gordon. Seems that, although the request was put in to keep the same number of instructors, the funds weren't approved for all 15 of us...only 5 will keep their jobs. They didn't say it, but with the war going on funds are needed elsewhere. The way it was decided to let us go was that the five of us with the lowest employee ID numbers would keep their jobs. Even though there's some real pieces of work teaching. Just a hour or so prior to the meeting I had another instructor interrupt me in class, not let me finish what I was saying, sent the class to break 5 minutes early, then told me what I was teaching was wrong and that I should've said "blah, blah, blah". I told him if he'd kept his mouth shut I'd have continued and said that. He started running at the mouth...calling me names...'bout got the ***-kickin' of his life. If I'd known how the meeting we had to go to in an hour was going to turn out, he would've got that pounding he deserved. So anyway, the first 5 hired stayed...I was number 7 on the list. So...I took a leave day on Friday, did some polishing of the resume. What I found ironic was that the guy told us the news the later said that those of us that were getting laid off would need to write a letter to the Human Resources Dept. saying why we were leaving. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Had to ask again about the letter, he confirmed it. I told him, "Leaving is a relative term, don't you think?" Everyone else in the room busted out laughing. I wasn't amused. I've never heard of a company letting you go then telling you that they'll need a letter from you saying why you left. Been a bad month. Back to job hunting... Last edited by JasonInAugusta; 08-21-2005 at 11:17 AM. |

My ex works for the state (FL) and she said if they lay you off or fire you you have the right to collect unemployment, if you quit or LEAVE you basically lost the right to claim unemployment... in other words be careful how you wright that letter You could allways come to Florida last I checked they still needed 600+ teachers in central florida Last edited by bulletproofcustoms; 08-21-2005 at 11:41 AM. |
