| Flea Market Find
Was out camping this weekend and went out Saturday morning to check on a flea market. Walked around for about an hour and didn't find anything I needed. On our way out I checked one last booth and ran across what I knew was an RC Bobcat. Price........$3.oo! However it of course was missing the radio but was brand new. The gal running the booth saw me investigating the Bobcat and she came over to tell me about it. She thought it was maybe a super detailed "Tonka" type toy. I just agreed and told her I'd take it. While giving her the $3 for it I began to tell her more about the vehicle and that it was remote controlled. These were only available through Bobcat dealers and were not cheap. They sold for about $115.oo at dealers and Bobcat's online store. She then tells me they had a box of them there radio control units down at their barn. Her husband told me he'd check in da barn and bring the box Sunday and call me. Well, never heard anything so I get to hunt down a radio. Found two different radio styles on Bobcat's online store site and waiting to hear back from them which one this requires. Wife of course thought I was nuts for buying but showed her a few on E-Bay when we got home Sunday evening Wifey is under the impression I'll get a radio and hock it on E-Bay for a nice return. Wrong!!!! Wanted one of these boogers for about 2 years! Too cool to sell, bucket is functional, steers like a real skid steer and has quite a few lights on it that work. Anywho, enough of my rambling, couple pics. |

Good find! That thing looks pretty cool. I wonder how well the scoop works - does the arm just go up and down, or does the bucket move independantly as well?

The bucket arms go up and down and at the top of the arm stroke the bucket will dump. No independent control of the bucket itself :? HERE are the current RC Vehicles Bobcat has. They look like a TON of fun to fart around with. They're 1/10th scale too I think.

argh.. nice find.. i've been looking for one of those for a while... i'd gut it and put in a real radio.. then use it w/ this.. although it might be a bit small eith that or it would look sweet on a trailer behind a dually juggy body, done up like some sort of landscaping company.. bdr |

Yeah, was what I was thinking. Start a scale landscaping company I got a custom UniMog that you might have seen floating around here. Functioning dumper bed, winch, etc. What sucks is the Bobcat is 1/10th scale but not scaled to 1/10 trucks like the Mog! Least it doesn't appear so to me. However, did find the Bobcat fits pretty decent in the Mog bed Annnnnnnnnnd, the Mog itself at work. |
