Yep, I can still remember the call line from the local station when I was a kid....just before one of his songs:

"93.7 - The station where Stevie Raves On..."

I remember I was working at the local pizza place when they announced that he died.

There was a video I saw of him and Double Trouble playing a concert in some Canadian dive bar. Probably the best performance I've ever seen from anybody, anywhere.

Its a shame, really it is.

Stevie Ray Vaughn brought the blues bakc to the mainstream, and revolutionized guitar playing forever.

People always ask, "who is th ebst guitar player ever?" Hendrix always gets the nod as the best.

And then there are the other perenial greats. Clapton, Duane Allman, Yngwee, Santana, and Satrianni...

Me, I always vote SRV. He didnt need to play screamin fast tripple arpegios to be the man, He understood the guitar, and what each note meant. You can tell that the man poured his soul into each and every note, string, pull off and hammer on. I have seen some really good players in my time, but they all seem to have a hard time with texas flood, pride and joy, little wing, and leave my little girl alone. Sure, they can play it, AFTER they modify it a bit so they can. But not SRV, he just could.

A rare talent.

And sorely missed
