| Hopefully tomorrow is a good day!
Got my first job interview since being laid off tomorrow at 11am. I hate trying to talk myself up and I get all nervous and forget all the stuff I know how to do!

Make a list, so you don't forget. On that list have two sections; what skills you bring to the company and what questions you want to ask them. After interviewing lots of people, those who come prepared are always appreciated more. |

Energy, positive excited energy. Being a bit enthusiastic may seem a bit queermo, but it really does bring a good vibe. That and don't say "ummmmm 4 years... ughhhhhhhhhhhhh seven sacks of salt". Answer in a clear and confident voice. Good luck!

I hate searching for employment, especially when I'm forced to look below the pay rate that I'm used to (thank you recession!). Not that I wasn't willing to work, its that nobody really wants to hire someone that is used to making 3-4 times more than what is being offered. It motivated me to start my own company... Good luck man, just stay cool and keep your head straight! |

Good luck with the interview. I'm going through the same process as you so I feel your pain. |

I think it went well today. I have to wait until Tuesday to see if I get called back for a second interview. The only part that makes me nervous is that the guy dong the interview said that over 200 people sent in their resumes! On a better note he made sure to have one of the OWNERS of the company come out and speak to me for about 10 mins. One of my wife's friends Brother in law is an owner of the company as well and she does the cleaning there, I guess she talked to the guy I had my interview with and he said he scores the people he interviews on a scale of 1 to 10 and I scored a 9 The reason I didn't get a 10 is because I want a bit more $ for my starting rate then they had in mind. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I hate being unemployed and this seems like a really good company to work for. Hell, every 6 months you go without missing time from work you get a $200 bonus! The only downside to this job will be going back on 3rd shift. Last edited by wrx-n-ktm; 11-05-2009 at 12:41 PM. |
