I started riding when I was 5 years old. Never really got into racing although I spent a ton of time pounding out laps on our local motocross track with friends. I quit riding for about ten years but this summer found a deal on a 91 CR500 that was in too good of shape to pass up. I always wanted one of these things back in the day but I got out of riding before I ever bought one. Its bone stock except for a Clarke desert tank and I've geared it down a couple teeth on the countershaft to make it a little easier to trail ride. I'll ride two strokes till the day I die...with stock gearing my 19 year old bike has yet to be beaten in a drag race by any of the the new four strokes. On the track I realize that a newer bike's suspension would probably kill it. |

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a couple of donor bikes...I want a trashed cr500 with a salvagable engine and a new aluminum framed 250 with a junk engine so I can build myself a CR500AF.....10 or 12 grand to buy one is a little out of my price range. | |

My bike didnt come with knobbies...but its still a dirt bike. 2007 Husqvarna SMR 510, had the suspension redone, completely tore the bike down to bare frame and powdercoated pretty much everything gloss black + clear. Def not the fastest bike I own but will hand 90% of the streetbikes their ass in the canyons. Last edited by NorCal 2500HD; 12-29-2009 at 11:14 AM. |

I used to race when I lived in Ok I quit though back in 2000 my last bike was a 1999 YZ 125 with Pro Circuit pipe and silencer all Hinson clutches and baskets, pro tapers and some other odds and ends. I started racing 80's and continued racing for about 6 years up until I was about 19, my cousin still rides he has an '08 KX 250 F 4 stroke that is decked out it has all pro circuit motor ti-4 exhaust, black excel rims it is a sweet bike when I visit I usually take it for a ride on the track he has on his land up in Ok. I bought my son a 50 last year for x-mas and if he is interested enough he will start racing eventually.

I raced motox in the early '80's. Had a '79 YZ80, and a '83 CR125. Fun stuff, couldn't afford it as a high school student washing dishes for race money. Parent's wouldn't foot the bill for such dangerous activities. I now have a '08 WR250X. Stoppies and "backing it in" is sooo fun..... |
