|  male speed (ice) skating...gay or bad ass?
i watched the Colbert Report at lunch and they did a little bit/spoof this. im torn. on one hand its a bunch of dudes wearing full body condoms slaping asses after the race. on the other hand there doing like 30 mph (i have no idea) using nothing but pure muscle. no motor rumbling or mechanical stuff, just the sound of air wizing by there ears. thats got to be a cool feeling.  |

YEah the suits are kinda homo-ish but thats what they gotta do to be aerodynamic. I think the sport is pretty awesome. Them guys get movin!

 I think speed skating is bad ass. If you've never actually seen an event, it's pretty incredible how fast these guys (and gals) haul it around the rink. We have an annual speed skating event near here on the lake, marathon distances of something like 60 miles. Lots of risk of frostbite, as they'll hold it even when it's -30C out! Also, those blades are razor sharp. They wear thick padded gloves to avoid cutting off their fingers in a crash. The risk of death or dismemberment in a sport is always cool :-P | |
