| Looks like I'm done posting for a while :(
Or at least limiting it severely. I've developed a bad case of carpal tunnel syndrome :( Too much coding at work, too many papers due, weights, etc. Sucks. Hurts like hell. Hopefully I can get disability at work, cause I can't do my job when I can't type without extreme pain! Hopefully they won't fire me :( Anyone got tips for dealing with CT? :? This sucks. |

I was a Jeweler for 30 years and I developed CT in my elbow I had to stop what I was doing and started to build boats I still had problems and had to use power tools. I am OK now 5 years later no symptoms. You may need to use Dragon speak and write. it will help.

I think the first step would be to use natural keyboards on all the computers you type on, if you don't already. Hope your CT cures up soon.

Try this, but you might want to ask your doctor first. Put all five finger tips together and put a rubber band around them all. Now exercise your hand muscles by opening and closing your finger tips repeatedly. You get Ct because your using certain muscles all the time(among other reasons), if you excercise all of the opposite mucles that your using when your typing then it should make your hands and wrists feel better. I use alot of small tools in my job and Ct is very popular here, excercising the muscles that you don't often use will eventually make your wrists and fingers feel much better. Good luck.

Back when I was about 15 or 16 I remember my mom had CT. She was an accountant for MacDonald Douglas Aircraft Co. in Longbeach CA. at that time and did ALOT of typing. She had surgery for it and I recon she doesn't hurt NEAR as bad anymore. I recon just every GREAT once in a while certain things will hurt her a little. For the most part though she doesn't complain about it anymore. I know it a totally different ballgame, but it might help. When I started laying blocks,I was using a Marshalltown trowel with an 10" blade. After a day of laying blocks my right wrist (my trowel hand) would ABSOLUTELY KILL me. My brother was running a job we had and wasn't laying much,he said here try my trowel it might be better for your wrist. I thought, this guys nut's,it was a Rose trowel with a 13" blade(biggest trowel they make). I could see the difference though, the 2 different brands of trowels had different pitches on the handle. The Marshalltown was flat(horizontal with the blade) and the Rose brand had a small angle up to it. I though, what the hell,I'll try it anyway. At the end of the day my wrist felt like a million bucks. I stopped at the rental yard after work and got a Rose 13" trowel. I've been through 5 or 6 in the last 5 years but thats the only trowel I'll buy. Try a different keyboard, maybe it might have the same effect Hope it gets better for ya |

Thanks Dude, its comin along, went to the doc, he told me to take a week off work then go see him again and check out how its doin. It feels better, mostly cause I haven't done jack without my braces on... I've heard surgery does a great job at fixing it, but shit, I don't wanna have surgery at 20 Far far in the future if its still an issue. I know I should get an ergo keyboard, I just hate em! |

I know two guys in the last year that had both wrists done. One is an auto mechanic, the other works for the borough. Both said it was worth it. If you can adjust things to minimize the pain and avoid surgery though, certainly is worth a try. Hope it gets better.
