Default Memorial Day

I know it's a little early, but I just wanted to say, I hope everyone has a great week-end and takes the opportunity to spend some quality time with family, friends and loved ones.

Here is something I wanted to share, and if you care to pass it on to others, that would be great, thanks.

Cool! Thanks.
I guess, it's just you and me who care to show some respect.

I think it was because of how early you posted...maybe now that it's the official start of the weekend, others will notice

We all thank the brave men & women who died serving this Great Country of ours, so we can rock crawl and play

just alot of them are enjoying the weekend already. 5,000 of them are at Sand Mountain here in NV already

Not sure about the rest of you but NV is having some great Memorial day weekend weather, 75 for a high, 40 for low. Enjoy all

Posted earlier today on my facebook page after getting three "Happy Memorial Day" messages:

I swear, the next person that says "Happy Memorial Day" to me is going to get a swift kick in the taint. Memorial Day is a day to commemorate U.S. service members who died while in service. Nothing "happy" about it. It's a day of remembrance for the fallen.

No offense JIA, but I do believe in being happy. Like you and your wife, I served to help protect others here in this country. If I had died in service, I would much rather have people celebrating me by being happy for the things I gave up, than being somber.

I'm not saying to forget what this day is about, and don't treat it as "just another 3 day weekend", but don't lose sight of the fact that many died so we can live happily.

Make sense and I understand. I've just been dealing with quite a bit lately regarding military so this year things are a bit different for me.

The messages I received were from non-military folks that just viewed today as another day off to spend at the lake and drink beer.

I still have friends that have died that I think about every week.

One of those things, I guess.

I totally understand, and I believe in giving the respect that is earned on this day. I'm also one of those that takes a vacation day for Veterans Day, because they don't observe it where I work, but that's just me.

I hope everything works out for you on the military issues you mentioned
