Default Help with stampede transmission

Ok, long story short. I'm replacing the input shaft on a stock stampede(#3793). I managed to wrestle the gear off the old bent shaft but for the life in me I can't get the gear on the new shaft. What is the trick. I've tried putting the shaft in the freezer, but no go. I got both in the freezer now so we will see if that will work, but I doubt it.

Any ideas? I don't have a press, or even a vise so I'm not working with a lot of equipment here.

Freezing both won't help any, if the gear is metal you can freeze the shaft and heat the gear.

yeah, I new that but I got the gear started on and now I can't get it back apart. I have one more idea. I'm gonna drill a hole through something and stick the shaft in it, and try tapping the shaft the rest of the way. I just hope that that works. I don't really have anything but a lighter to heat things up with.

You know I've had this problem myself quite a few times. Put a metal wheel over the gear and push down. Works for me everytime my pede, slash, or pede tranny on the ax10 goes out. Also replace that hollow cotter pin with a piece of drill bit or steel rod stock. That little guy doesn't like brushless systems and no slipper
