It's most likely the compressor or condenser, could also be the fan module if your truck has one of those, that's what went on my mom's PT Cruiser, luckily it was under warranty and saved us $750...

Is this in a vehicle or in a house? Can you give any specifics about the situation?

Your 93 is probably similar to my 150. Take the + and - plug off the compressor and direct wire it to your battery. You will hear the compressor click. I have a short in my wiring harness somewhere and i need to direct wire it to a switch.

If you know your compressor works, it probably needs to be charged. Go to walmart in the auto section. There is a white can with a blue top. its something like 123A or something like that.

Look under your hood on the passenger side, there is a black cylinder that goes into your air box, the high pressure hoses that go out of it is where you charge the AC at. There is usually a blue or blue/greenish cap. Looks like a valve stem. Plug the 123A stuff into the stem, with your AC on full blast, and engine running, hold the trigger down. Follow the directions on can pretty much haha.

if neither of those work, make sure none of your hoses are torn. 1 little hole will drain all the coolant out.

I had AC problems in my truck this summer. Started out without a hose, $70 later, nothing. Multiple charges, and i found out my compressor didnt work. Got it working, then see i had a tear in one of my hoses, a trip to the junkyard, charged it up, and works great.

Well you know what Im first going to suggest right??

I won't state obvious!! I hate those POS's...

Anyways like he stated, tiny pinhole in hose you'll dump coolant...
Very easy to test at a shop, I think even autozone tests now too!
Id test to see if system is loaded or not before id put stuff in unless that bottle is cheap.....

Update us

You don't hook up to the high side.

Or R-12, I always forget the cut-off era on Fords. Looking at the freon hoses, if the valves have a Quick connect style its R134a like Jeremy stated. If they are threaded the system is run on R-12, and you are better off letting a professional convert the system to R-134a.

The R-134a systems have different sized ports. The kits you buy at auto parts stores will only attach to a low pressure fitting. Its ALMOST idiot proof...

Either needs cleaning or freon, probably both. Just did mine last summer. Same exact stmptoms. Had to clean the coils(very very dirty) and it was low on freon. We have dogs as well. I cleanred the coils myself and had a buddy come over and give it a shot of freon, didn't need much.

Works like a champ now.

Yep, that doghair will block the fins on the coil easily and cause it to freeze...
