I thought it was pretty interesting. I was kind of surprised at the reactions to the aerodynamics testing... wouldn't guys who run a muscle car shop know how aerodynamics work and that just chopping the top off of that van wouldn't work?? just seemed kind of strange for him to be so shocked that it wouldn't be aerodynamically awesome... |

The show was a lot better than I expected. The time pressure seemed more real than other build-off shows. As soon as they announced the challenge I thought mid-engine V8. With six grand to spend, somebody could have gone to the boneyard and gotten a decent motor. I'd like to know how much time they spent in the paint shop. The Hollywood van got windows and headlights pretty quick. Last edited by microgoat; 06-22-2010 at 04:02 AM. |

Have to agree, it was much better then expected. With a little turbo tweaking, the chopped top red and black van could be lots off fun. Next week should be cool with the hearst hill climbers.

I thought it was cool. The hollywood auto's people had to have a spare V8 laying around somewhere they could have thrown in. Still though, 6.3 seconds to 60 in a Chevy Astro (astrorghini lol) is very impresive.

| I'd like to see what the Strope van could have done with a proper launch. With that 100-shot and better weight distribution (not to mention less weight overall) it should have smoked the Hollywood van.

kicked ass i thought. alot better than i expected. they do TV magic and skip over alot of the work though. looking forward to the rest of the series. did anyone else catch that the astrogini had 4.11 gears swaped into it? i think that was a HUGE help on the road course and 0-60. i couldnt belive they beat the mid engine, big brake roadster, i had all my money on it. |

Yeah, they kinda skimmed over the 4.11's, but I'm sure that made a huge difference. What gets me is their pro driver had nothing but praise for the way Srope's van handled, bitched about the turbo lag and how twitchy the Hollywood van was, but still gave them the win. Handling isn't just lap times.
