Default North Alabama MS fundraiser - 100-miler

Got some new parts in today for the road bike.

The new stem is 133g with hardware. Full carbon - $30.

The stock stem was 178g so I shaved 1.5oz off the bike for $30.

Also picked up some new carbon bottle cages and shed weight there as well. The $15 plastic cages I bought with the bike were heavier and more expensive than the 23g carbon cages I scored for $5 each.

Anyway, got the new parts on and thought I'd throw up a reminder that I have a 100-miler coming up on August 14th to raise money for MS research. I just wonder if I can get those HED wheels in time.

I need $150 in donations to start the ride and I currently have only $50 in donations - Still need another $100.

So, if any of you would like to donate, you can do so by using the following link:

Thanks!

Had someone on another forum ask for more pics so you folks get to deal with'm as well.

Here's the ride, a 2010 Specialized Tarmac Elite in 58cm.

The new stem and the carbon bars I installed...as well as my motivational headset cap.

Spent the extra money for the carbon frame vs. the aluminum frame bike that was $600 less.

My $5 bottle cages that are actually carbon and not hydro-dipped graphics.

It has a Shimano 105 group on it, but I plan to start tracking down some SRAM Red components and set the 105 stuff aside. Maybe a FSA crankset.

The new wheelset will be either HED's Jet 4 C2 Flamme Rouge or their Jet 6C2 Flamme Rouge. As of now it's looking like the Jet 4s will be the way to go.

...and swap out the hardware for Ti stuff.
