Default restoring a Gel cell

I have a 7amp 12v PB gel cell. It's sat for a few years and hasn't seen any use. I've started flying again and am rebuilding my flight box, and threw a tester on the battery and the voltage was very low. I have a surecharge 2010 that is a PB capable charger. I'm only getting 30-100mah per charge. is there a way to bring the battery back to life? Can I cycle it a few times to bring back some capacity or is it done dishes...?

Lead acid batteries turn into anchors if left to sit unused for long periods of time. They like to be exercised.

We sold Optima batteries when I worked for Big O tires a few years back and after I warrantied a few out for people I asked our battery guy what gives? I had them for years and never had a problem... He said if you have them in a car that sits for long periods they like to go flat... he told us to give them a 30 sec. blast with the start/ assist setting on the batt. charger then trickle charge overnight and they recover pretty good. I have saved 3 or 4 glass mat type batteries like that (they are gel also) try it and see if it works... If it blows up make sure to get video... explosions are cool!

Take it to AutoZone or Advance and see if they can do it. I had an Optima sit for years unused and put my charger on it (that does AGMs) and it didn't work. The unit at the parts store zapped it back to life.

A standard charger that most of use have at home (whether it be a charger for car batts or whatever) isn't going to have the balls to pump the AGM batts they way they need to be to be revived.

I hit it a few times with the Procharger I have. and after a few more 30-100Mah peaks and discharges It started taking a good charge. sat overnight charging at 1/2 amp and was at 4800 when I left it for the wife to tend..... thats a pretty good start
