Exclamation Laptop Battery

Don't hook up a 14.4v 3c lipo to your laptop, just smoked my Dell this afternoon. I thought running more amps to the computer I could get more speed on my modem...I was way wrong! My screen turned green in 5 seconds and next thing you know smoke is coming from my keyboard...I saved my Goonies 25th Ann' DVD from the drive before it died.

Does anyone know how to check if the memory is still good. I hooked it up to a volt meter and its staying current at .009 but goes to .006. What does that mean?

Really?

Oddly enough, the "lipo in the laptop" thought ran through my head last night when my wife let me know the replacement battery for hers is $150.

Check fleabay for a battery. I bought an OE laptop battery on ebay around the beginning of this year. Got it pretty cheap.

You all should ask Ted, aka TruckNuts, whether or not you need a BEC in that....

Is a 14.4v what was in your laptop to start with? Batteries Plus has some great deals on laptop batteries I got one from them for the wifes computer last year for $40! She has a Dell.

Don't feel bad, i put a magnetic parts tray on the armrest of my laptop which happens to be directly above the hard drive. It made some grinding noise and fried the hard drive. Luckily i only have to replace my hard drive, not the whole computer like you.
