| I lost a close friend today.....
I've been in the tattoo business since I was 13 years old, so 22 years now. One of my teachers and close friend passed away today from cancer. Fawk cancer!!!! I'm so sick of loosing friends to this chit! Not just good people either, but truly great people. I just needed to vent......... This is the last picture I have of me and Don at a tattoo convention. He was the oldest tattoo artist in Ga. And he his dad had the first shop here in town in the 40's! I'll miss him like crazy..... |

Sorry to hear about your loss. Cancer got my Dad when he was 62, that really sucked, he never got to meet my daughter.

Sorry to hear that news Kenny. I have many tattoo artists friends and the bonds your group of talented artists form together is amazing.

Thanks guys. It take a bit to get me bummed and this did the trick. I do have a lot of memories that I will always have with me and Don. He touched a lot of people. What really sucks is we talked to his wife today and Don make it clean that he didn't want any kind of viewing or anything. He will be ashes. So none of us will even get to pay respect or see him one last time. He told his wife to tell us that we were tattooist and the we should be tattooing and not crying like babies over him! That is how he was though.

Kenny,,,I am sorry for your loss. I hope the memory of your friend and mentor finds its strength in your gun. I have from time to time dabbled a bit in writing,,I hope you dont mind this, Needle, Ink, Flesh and Blood feel the sting until its done. Some of lines, some of color Fathers, Daughters, Sons and Mothers. Some are true. Some are show. Either way the Ink and Blood will flow. True for the Old and for the newest. Signature in Flesh,,,,Signed,,,The Tattooist. Last edited by rmdesignworks; 08-14-2010 at 11:24 PM. |

I've always been very selective about who my real friends are. And those friends are family to me. Time heals all they say. Thank you for all the kind words guys.

My sincere condolences for the loss of a dear friend, this is a tough thing to go through, but you must take time to remember a little bit of him will live in your heart forever. I had a close buddy that was told he had terminal cancer, just after christmas last year, he was a lifelong biker with tatoo's from head to foot, people were intimidated by his looks, but he had a heart of gold. On new years morning 2010, he dressed up in his best biker leathers, took his favourite colt python, walked onto the golf course behind his house and ended his life. I still miss him a lot, and often find myself almost picking up the phone to give him a call, before remembering he's not here anymore. |

There is so much of this around all of us and it seems we don't think about it much till it hits home personally. It's something we need to talk about more and support the guys going through this before they loose loved ones and friends. If any of you guys ever need me please let me know. Any hour, any day. Again thank you for the support guys. RCC is family to me and I mean that. It goes way further than toy trucks.
