They have TONS of stuff for dirt cheap. I'm definetely going to spend the next few hours looking around here

I'm tempted to get a 12V 7.5AH lead-acid battery. Who cares about weight?! With lathe motors I'll have 4 hours of run time 8O

I'd heard about some Johnson motors listed there awhile ago and just got a few pair recently. Now I can't find the threads about them from so long ago, so I dunno if they're any good for crawling. Anybody have some experience with them?

That looks a LOT like a 550 can Titan Motor, including the fan.

I bet Titans take a core like that and re-wrap them with larger gauge wire to make their 14.4V beasts.

When I hear Johnson motors, I think Johnson/Mabuchi, aka stock clod motors?

Thats WAY similar to a Titan motor

If they're basicaly Titan's, at 7.2v would they be better than stock TXT motors?

Probably. They'll be mid-low RPM torquers. Depends on your setup, if you have lots of gearing you'd be better suited to a higher RPM motor.

ATM I've got stock gearing in the TXT aside from 12T pinions. When I put new motors in I may go with 9T. I was thinking of using either those Johnson motors or a couple of MM's; possibly Lathe motors.

I'm looking for lots of torque of course but still some wheel speed; a top-end of ~5mph would be good. Which combo from the list above do you think would be best for that?

Lathe motors will make you super silly slow with tons of torque, maybe some wheelspeed. I get some wheelspeed with my clod at 50:1 and running the lathe motors on 14.4V.

Mag Mayhems would be great, but maybe try those Johnson units and dare to be different ;)

I blame outlook, it opened the thread in IE cause I was FTPing with it, and I just followed through without looking to see it wasn't firefox. It wasn't until my FTP window was gone and I was really confused did I realize I was in IE land

Are you sure yours didn't have the sleeve? With mine, the Titan name/sticker deal was on it. Then again, we could be talking about something different?

Yes, I am sure I didn't have the sleeve, I don't have the names on the cans either. I was told by the guy I got my Maxx from that the guy he got it from took the stickers off, and when I got it, he had taken the sleeves off, which took the stickers off.
