| A new Projcet(like I needed something else)
I picked this up a couple of weeks ago. Its an '87 with the 1.3/5spd and a shackle lift. Plans for it include a 6" SPOA, lockers, gears, trail gear and possibly the diesel engine swap. I have been wanting a Samurai for a while and this one came up(and fairly cheap too). I wanted a convertible, but this one will work. |

Very clean for an 87. What size tires are you planning on running? Diesel swap will be nasty.

A tintop sami is what I really want, nice find, it's mint, can't wait to see what you do with it, sounds like awesome plans.

Nice find! So a 1.6TD or a 1.9TDI? hmmmmm... with Propane? When I lived in Japan, I used to hear these things run around with 2stroke motors in them. They sounded like a YZ80 Yamaha going up or down through the gears - LOL. So I am curious about the front shackle get on there. The front mounts look thin and long? Do they withstand side loading of the axle when offroad? Do zuks have panhard bars? |

Tuffguy: I will probably go with 33's(I already have to rigs on 35's). Will do the Toyota PS swap as well. sweli: I will look for the 1.9TDI(but will go with the 1.6 if thats all I can find) Im kind of up in the air about the propane. The shackles that are on there were there when I bought it. I will do away with them with the shackle reversal kit, for the reason like you asked, "Are they strong enough"? I think the previous owner did them cause they are cheap and fairly easy to install. I don't see a panhard, but there is a sway bar on the front. The rear shackles look just like the fronts, so approach angles are shot with these as well. |
