Default Finally, got a Canon

I have been wanting to get a professional grade camera now for some time. This weekend, I had to go to Hong Kong for a new visa, and came home with this.

It is the Canon EOS Kiss X3, which is the equivalent to the EOS Rebel T1i.
I went with a Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 (IF) lens, which also included the wideangle (fisheye) attachment. On top of that, I opted for the "Sports" option, which houses the dual batteries down below.

I still need to get an ok flash setup and a good tri-pod, but that will happen soon.

Now, I just gotta learn how to use the damn thing.

Nice! The alternate shutter button on those battery holders is a nice touch.

Yeah, I am liking this camera alot. The sensor and lens combo seems to grab every bit of available light in low light situations. I think I am really going to enjoy working this thing.

Yeah, I wish I could afford to go digital on an SLR, especially with a new baby. Guess I'll have to stick to the point and shoot and the 35mm for now.

Part of the reason I picked this up is because of my 9 month old girl. I really want to get some good shots of her for the family, as they cannot be around her from 8000 miles away.
Plus, this camera will help me get better detail shots of any new products coming up.

I have a Canon Rebel Ti 35mm, but I am afraid to start taking pics of mine baby (week and a half old) because I know I will never get them developed. Hell, I have rolls from when my first daughter was born still. 13 years ago!!!

You should check out the LowPro bags. I have a Slingshot shoulder bag and they are nice!

I hear ya on the 35mm...I gave up on that years ago for the very same reason.

As for bags, I got a Point bag thrown in, and it seems to be a pretty nice and comfortable shoulder bag. For now, it will suit me just fine.

I know where there are some great rocks for you to trip over and smash that bad boy.

Nice Camera man. I look forward to seeing it in action.

I may not bring it. I will be carrying my crawler(s) and my checked luggage. I may just stick with a point and shoot for this trip.

Sorry dood.

I'm a Nikon fan but looks like a nice setup you got yourself. I love playing around with photography even though I suck at it...lol...I want to take some classes but I don't really have the time right now.

If you want a fantastic tripod/head suggestion that won't break the bank...I have a Manfrotto 055XPROB with a Manfrotto 484RC2 ballhead. It offers incredible flexibility as far as camera positions and is pretty heavy duty. It holds my Nikon D200 with the grip attached no problems. It will get your camera well over your head or so low to the ground that the lens will literally touch the ground.

SWEET camera KC. I have a little Canon Powershot SX 20 is. not much but it takes sweet pics and HD vid. When I move up to the SLR, I will probably take Photography class to get the most out of it.

Nice recommendation. I am going to buy one tomorrow. I will have a look around and see what I can find.

Thanks.

I imagine I will be a camera noob for a long time. It took me three days before I even noticed that it had a mini flash hidden on the top.

I most definitely am interrested in taking a couple classes. I think I could benefit alot from some good instructors.

For photographing babies, a speedlight will serve you a lot better than a tripod.

Be careful with that "fisheye" attachment, they get very fuzzy around the frame edges.
