Good suggestion, also, look on Sony's website for their cheapest dedicated player, because it's still good, but the PS3 adds the ability to play what? Games. |

rent and buy movies from the PS3 store. I don't even use my PS3 for games anymore, its a solid media player aswell. edit: your just gunna come back and say your xbox can do the same, considering they are looking esentialy for a bluray player it cannot. and HD-DVD, WTF is that? haha | |

ps3... I finally played a game after a full yr of using it for movies only. Connect it to the net and you get the updates when new movie formats etc come out, unlike allot of standard blu ray players that only play blu rays.

There are plenty of Blu-ray players that are around that mark that are netflix and wifi updatable. I love my ps3, it's pretty much my media center now, only have two games for it.

| I got a refurbed, backwards compatible one for 280.00 Has internet, blue ray, dvd, netflix and bluetooth capability. Plus it plays Playstation, Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 games and online play is FREE. Really can't go wrong with it as long the owner is capable of navigating it. My father for instance doesn't know what to do with computers and can't figure it out. |

If you don't need/want Wi-Fi, Vizio has a nice one at Walmart for $98 that has all the internet options like Netflix, VUDU, Pandora Internet Radio, and some other stuff. http://www.walmart.com/ip/VIZIO-VBR1...-Apps/14972572 |

yeah ps3 is the best way to go and its still better then the xbox since about 53% of xbox's get the red ring and i have never seen a ps3 go out so. or you can just go with a hddvd player for your xbox and get some old movies off ebay |

The only thing a ps3 is good for is the Uncharted games and blue-ray. The online gaming sucks compared to live and its not as user friendly as Xbox. I do own both systems so I guess it all comes down to personal preference, but my opinion is that the Xbox is a much better gaming system. But the ps3's blue ray player is suppose to be one of the best on the market. Mine has gave me no troubles. If your parents aint real tech savy, Id just get them a straight up blue ray player. My parents have problems running a normal dvd player, I couldnt imagine how they would figure out having to get the blue ray working on a ps3.
