I would love to do that project, problem is finding a 80's vintage GiJoe troop runner or missle gunner. got one you want to donate to Montana Scale Designs?

I had one of those trucks and thought about making it a crawler but I can't seem to locate it in the attic. If anyone has one measure the wheelbase and track width for us. I'm thinking bruiser axles.

My brother has the whole GI Joe collection he saved from when his oldest was a youngin, he's also got the whole Star Wars collection, some figures are prototypes that were never released, my dad was director of drafting for Kenner Toys back then. Anyway, I'll take some wb and other measurements on a few of those pictured vehicles when I get over to my bro's place in the next day or two, if knowone beats me, I'll post them up. Damn I feel old, my memories are of the good ol 40lb steel Tonka trucks made right here in Minnetonka Mn. Lesley/Matchbox car/trucks. Barrel of Monkeys, also made here in Mn ( my dad worked for them also) and ect ect. Last edited by freetimecrawler; 04-12-2006 at 06:02 PM. |

I have done many old school 1/6 scale GI Joe bodies into crawlers BUT the smaller stuff like in the pics just don't have enough room under the body to stuff the electronics under and suspension to make it look scale. I tried with a Flynt Steel truck 1/18th scale and it almost worked but not quite. Also tried a flynt military Jeep. That almost worked too. http://www.rcpics.net/out.php/image....14f252d0356d2c |

That would make a sweet trials crawler. I would have no problem molesting that thing. | |

I am planning on using the front and rear axles and suspension from on a couple of other boards for mini rc's and mini z's i found a bunch of guys using this Iwaver02Pro reciever/esc board some guys are using the Mini z'a Pots for the steering modded in, but im not that good... so im going to run an Iwaver Steering servo |

oh.. i didnt mention, the boards up top, make it full proportional... throttle and steering and you get to use your HG remote! If this thing turns out pretty cool... im going to have to bring it to the next comp.... not like it'll do good, but more to see what it can do. |
