Tylenol Recall 2011: Tylenol 8-Hour Extended Release Caplets This time the product is the Tylenol 8-Hour Extended Release Caplets (150 count) which were recalled by McNeil Labs after receiving customer complaints of an odor coming from the bottles. In a statement, a unit of Johnson & Johnson said that this “musty or moldy odor” is believed to be caused by certain chemicals–2,4,6-tribromoanisole (TBA) and 2,4,6-trichloroanisole (TCA)–within the pills, but also says the “risk of adverse medical events is remote.” Around 34,000 bottles are being recalled from the market. To check if your Tylenol bottle is affected, check the code found on the side of the bottle label. Those products affected will have a lot number of ADM074 and a UPC code of 300450297181, according to the company. If you have purchased product from the lot included in this recall, you should stop using the product immediately and contact McNeil Consumer Healthcare, either at www.tylenol.com or by calling 1-888-222-6036 (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time) for instructions about receiving a refund or product coupon. Also if you have any medical concerns or questions, do not hesitate to contact your healthcare provider. |
