Default Toyota, good deal?

How are the engines in the 80' pickups? Are they anything like a 22r? A link to a site with some info would be helpful. Thanks.

Scratch that idea. Found another pickup. Sounds like a good deal. KBB says 1850. I think 2000 sounds fair.???

Basics 171,000 miles
This truck I got a year ago and have been slowly rebuilding it. I now have undertaken too many projects and it need to go so I can complete one of my others, it’s a solid truck that needs some minor repairs that can be done pretty easy. Have receipts for work done

New
Timing chain and gear W/metal guides
Timing chain cover
Water pump
Head gasket
Valve cover gasket
Oil pan gasket
Intake gasket
Exhaust gasket
Radiator hoses
Carrier bearing
BF Goodrich AT 31” (less than 100 miles on them)

Changed
Head
5 speed Transmission and transfer-case (out of a 1987)

Nice things
Full working lights
Clean title
Straight axle (best year to make into a rock crawler)
No rust
Clean interior (minus one door panel)

Bad
small dents and dings it is a 4x4. There is a small radiator leak and exhaust leak, both I will do my best to fix and the seat belt need to be bolted in and it could us a new ground wire. And the wind shield wipers don’t work do to the knob missing. The car is not smoged but other then the exhaust leak there is no reason why it will not pass. $2500.00

In the 4wd's....

'79-'80 20R
'81-'88 22R
'85-'95 22RE
'85-'87 22RET
'88-'95 3VZE

Mostly all are the 22R/RE engines. 4Runners were all EFI except the very few '84 4Runners. Trucks could be either EFI'ed or carbed up to '88. In '89 all trucks became EFI'ed. Turbo 4Runners all came with an auto tranny. Trucks with turbo had the sweet R151 transmission or an auto.

2wd's had carbs up to about '91 though...

Cali trucks came with more smog crap.

What are you after directly? I tend to deal with this stuff everyday at work [cough]Toyota[/cough]

There's a 1980 4WD pickup for sale. needs work, clean, new tires, campershell, $500. That's what it says in the add. Hopefully I'm going to go check it out soon, I don't know what condition it's in right now. What should I look for in weak spots? Thanks

PS It will be a small project truck. I'm only 15, so it's not gonna be anything extreme.

the black toyota for $2500 is a little steep. The 1980 for $500 sounds like a sweet deal
