The Final Cut was my favorite Pink Floyd album back in high school (mid 80's).

The album seemed to be a deeper look into "the wall" without the character pink. Most of it is about Rogers childhood and the death of his father. I always assumed the final cut was suicide.

The Wall was almost completely Waters, he utilized the band much like a solo artist would use studio musicians. Waters says he realized things were getting to a point of change when he spit in the face of an adoring fan at a show in Montreal on the Animals tour.

There was an interview recently where Roger has outright stated he regrets the lawsuit against the other members of the band for the use of the name. I have to admit I like both Gilmore and Waters as song writers, they are quite different style wise, but they both have tremendous talent.

i was in grade 9 when the final cut came out..at the time it wasnt my favorite and kind of a bummer as it appeared to be the end of pink floyd, but i have definatly grown to appreciate it in the last few years. i think learning about the members and the dynamics going on in the band at the time and through the recording of the wall made it click more for me.
i love the darkness of waters and equally like david gilmore on the music side..both play from the heart
