| Tailgate Question
Ok, I have a question. I have searched google for weeks and cant find what I am looking for. I drive a 96 f150. And I have wooden ramps with the metal piece on the top.And I am going to load my commercial mower in it alot. Here is the problem this truck is taller than my old truck. So I am looking for tailgate extender straps. Something that would extend the safety straps so the angle of the ramps are more shallow. The mower gets caught on the top of the ramps and I have to pick up the back of the mower to get into the truck. So a thing that takes the tailgate from flat to tipping downward. Anything, or am I dreaming it up? |

You can buy cable and ferrules and whatnot from the hardware store. But then you've either got to buy the crimpers or find a buddy that has a set you can borrow. They make bolt together crimps but they may be too bulky. Why not just take the tailgate off or make some slightly longer ramps? Or bag that beotch and put some dubsubs on it. |

Just unhook the cables and use 2 ratchet straps when you wanna load the mower. I wouldn't trust a "homemade" cable....maybe a chain but not a cable.

Cable extensions with the clamps will probably get jammed up when you shut the tailgate. Does the tailgate even go low enough to help before it hits the bumper? How about some 2x4 or 2x6 layered ramps to lay on the tailgate, into the bed, that the front tires would ride up on and then back down the back side once the deck clears. |

| Re: Tailgate Question Let me just say, I am 23 6 foot 255lbs of solid meat and have been pushing the 400 pound walkbehind up the ramps and picking it up by myself for 7 years. I dont need to hit the gym, I was just trying to make lifeeasier.......but then I wouldnt feel like a monster after I pick it up. I have a 16 foot tandem trailer, but its kinda over kill for 1 walk behind and a push mower. No, just what I have, they are 8 foot ramps, so I dont think longer ones will help. Im not sure about making my own, and I dont want to use chain or a tiedown strap. Here is the truck in question, I dont want to hack it all up, so I may just push and lift like I have been. Unless someone comes up with something else profound. Thanks for the help |

Pay the neighbor kids to do it. Then sit back and relax? Or put a lift kit on the mower so it doesn't hit the edge?
