i have a school laptop(had the laptop for years) and want to install programs and it wont let me because the administrator set it so i cant install the programs and i would like to get the password so i can change that

Usually they can be reset. Just go into you settings. At the start up screen, u have to hit a certain key, like on a dell its F2, you will then see the password. To clear it is another thing. Some you have to put a small pin into a small hole where there is a reset button. Some, you just need the old password. Without know the brand, model, and date of manufacture, its hard to say..

That would a BIOS reset, he is wanting the windows admin password. There are ways to crack it, but from the sound of it the laptop he has is not his, but the schools. Its locked down for a reason.

BIOS could be a decent work around, but maybe this is a good incentive for the kid to take a basic systems configuration class.
