| Need some input on a Toyota tacoma
I just started looking for a used tacoma, and the dealer called with a 2006 4 door TRD package V6 and i think it is an automatic. The only drawback is that it has 126,000. It is a single owner, older man and wife well maintained (dealer says babied). he said maybe $14,000-$15,000. Is it worth it with the milage? all you toyota owners give me some help thanks for the input |

Do a bit of research and see what they are going for privately. I always expect to pay a little bit more at the dealer so I don't fuss too much about it. The 100k mark doesn't mean what it used to. I bought my Montero with 118k on it 5 years ago for $10k and its been an awesome vehicle. Just hit 210k this week and still going strong. |

I checked on Kelly Blue Book and they go for about 16,500 from the dealer.

I looked at the blue book as well and found in my area they are in the 15000-17000 range. I know that Toyotas can and do run up over 300,000 (i had 1998 forerunner that had 265000 when i sold it) just wondering about this year/style if anyone has experience with them over the 100,000 mark. Most of the review seem very positive just looking for more info. Thanks for the input guys keep it coming

As a prior Toyota tech I can tell you that the 4.0s are indestructible...they are more reliable then the famous 22re. The auto transmissions are good to as long as you don't tow pass the recommend amount, service them as they should etc. overall they are awesome trucks. Only issues I ever really saw we're bad cats and 02 sensors but the rep told me that ny gets a lot of that because our gas sucks.

I have a 03 double cab trd v6. It has been a good truck. 90k I put front brakes on it. Shortly after that I had to replace a front tierod. Timing belt changed at 100k. And that's it, haven't even changed a lightbulb in the thing. Just make sure it has been serviced like it should and it you shouldn't have any problems with it. If you do get it look up grey wire mod...it let's you turn on the rear locker whenever you want. |
