Are the citizens of this country not required to produce ID at any time when out in public? Why would it be any different at a polling center?

Exactly! need to write a check, need ID, want to buy alcohol, need ID, want a pack of smokes, need ID, want to enter the Justice Department, need ID.

Yet voter ID laws are being called "racist" ?

I was unaware that there was a particular race that had a problem obtaining a US issued ID.

So you're in favor of voter fraud?

BTW, since you might not be familiar with the proposed regulation, the showing of the ID would not be used to track, merely a visual inspection be the polling worker.

proving who you are in order to vote, does not mean people will know how or who you voted for.

For photo ID to vote.

No. A cop can come up and ask to see your ID and you are not required by law to show it to them.

If they have a valid reason to see it then they will just take you into custody until they can ID you...

Its not about the ID at that point, its about resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer performing his duties.

I really can't fathom why there is so much resistance to these laws... unless you are counting on fraudulent votes to get you or your party into office.

I haven't heard one good reason to not show your ID.

for. my area is quite low in population, but i still see nothing wrong with showing an id to vote. around here, it will probably be lax on enforcement, everyone knows everybody in the township. the fact remains that areas like mine are slowly but surely getting wiped off the map, and the higher population should warrant higher security on something like voting. its not like they're forcing you to sign the ballot you hand in, just pop out the id.

They can make up any BS story they want. That doesn't mean it will hold up in a court of law and their department will not be paying out a settlement. Know your state laws.

So for it, I agree with the above statement about having to show I.D. For everything else.
