Default Random question about axles

I was on my way to another property during work and saw a Toyota with its axles with off set pumpkins and it got me thinking is there any real benefit of a off set pumpkin over a centered pumpkin or vice versa?

I can see a offset pumpkin gives u better clearance in the center of the axle but that's about it. Any body know or prefer one type of axle over the other?

That's what i figure. Seems like a centered pumpkin would be better sense they are symmetrical so shafts are the same for both sides.

That depends on where the t-case outputs are located.

Not really, Try putting a driverside shaft in the passanger side on most eny rear axle. There usualy difrent lingths; about an inch.

Having them both offset, you know that they are both on the same side and can shoot around that. also they are closer to the tires so they will lift sooner than the center would.

Food for thought,..
